Review about Pratt Institute Summer Camp

Ilya S.
(Pratt Institute Summer school review)

The course is pretty standard, but the school itself and New York are super!

The course of English is simple in itself: probably, it will be good for beginners, but I have already traveled to similar ones, I even found out some educational workbooks. Supported knowledge, but in principle, and everything, although the experience of live communication is always useful (especially if you need American English). But the language school itself and the programs in New York - it was the most interesting of all where I went! In this city there is everything for everyone and everything: we had a schedule of excursions (both additional and common for everyone) on a common stand in the hall - so there were so different options that our eyes really ran out. You choose, you plan - and it turns out that you simply do not have enough days for everything. I think that in large cities on trips (such as London, New York) you need to take a bigger course, I only had two weeks.

I especially liked the walking tour at Wall Street (there was a super-guide, a lot of information on the topic, and not just "that's such a building, they trade here from a certain year) and trips to" national "areas like Chinatown or Little Italy, the Jewish quarter. By the way, there is absolutely nothing to be afraid here: the areas are calm and assimilated, but very colourful - I bought all the gifts and souvenirs only there, and the food was the most interesting.

Good afternoon! Is there any detailed information about the training process in this camp? And what skills do children have to learn at the end of the course?

Hello, Elvina! Thanks for the comment on the site smapse.ru. In the camp, training takes place in the morning, approximately from 9 to 13. After class, the school’s teachers organize recreational activities, sightseeing tours (1 excursion per week for a full day, and 3 trips for a few hours), examples of excursions: walks in Brooklyn bridge, visiting areas of Little Italy, Soho, Chinatown, and so on. At the end of the course, children improve their grammar and lexical skills in English. Also, the emphasis is on continuous language practice, children communicate in the classroom and outside the class, so the course is very effective in enhancing communication skills.
