Every year, two conferences, scientific and practical seminars are held in the branch, and all scientific and pedagogical employees of the branch take an active part in university conferences, in conferences of other universities.

The organization of research work of students is carried out by teachers of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Moscow University named after S.Y. Witte in line with the scientific directions of the departments. Students of the university are involved in participation in regional, all-Russian Olympiads and competitions, are participants in scientific and practical inter-university conferences.

The university publishes collections of scientific works of the teaching staff of the branch "Economics. Right. Education. Regional Aspect" and students – "Student Scientific Meridian".

To accommodate nonresident students, an agreement was concluded with SPHERO LLC for the provision of places in the dormitory of the Nizhny Novgorod College of Heat Supply and Automation of Control Systems.

For the nutrition of students during the eductaion, an agreement was concluded with the student canteen of the Nizhny Novgorod Linguistic University, located in the immediate vicinity of the educational building.

Much attention in the branch is paid to work with first-year students, issues of their adaptation to new conditions of study, relationships in the team, everyday life and other problems. Every year, the beginning of the academic year is celebrated by the Day of Knowledge, where representatives of the administration and employers congratulate those present, questionnaires, eductaion and rallies are held to help students get to know each other better, and leaders to show their organizational abilities. 

The branch actively operates the Student Council, which includes a scientific student society, cultural and mass, civil-patriotic, social and sports sectors, an old-timer.

Students of the branch take an active part in the organization of the volunteer movement in the city.  They participate in the career guidance program of self-determination of high school students in Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region, conduct master classes, familiarization and explanatory work on educational institutions, prepare commercials, information leaflets, brochures, flyers. 

To form the legal consciousness and political culture of students, meetings are held with representatives of the authorities and business of the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

As part of extracurricular activities, the following activities are carried out:

  • civil and patriotic events and actions dedicated to Victory Day, Russian Army Day, Russian Science Day, etc.;
  • events that form the corporate culture of the educational institution:
  • the annual meeting of freshmen as part of the celebration of the Day of Knowledge;

Facilities and equipment at Moscow University named after S.Y. Witte, branch in Nizhny Novgorod

The Nizhny Novgorod branch occupies premises with an area of 15,945 sq.m and includes:

  • classroom fund for conducting lectures, seminars and practical classes, independent work of students, conducting current and intermediate control, working on course and diploma works (equipped with sound reproduction and multimedia complexes);
  • 2 computer classes with the necessary set of licensed software for laboratory and practical work, for conducting classes in a foreign language;
  • forensic laboratory;
  • a courtroom;
  • a library with a reading room for 32 workplaces, four of which are equipped with computers with access to databases and the Internet;
  • medical office. 

In each classroom, library, reading room, computer class, there are places of study for disabled people and persons with disabilities. 

Classrooms for lectures are designed for 50-60 people, practical classes - for 20-30 people. Classrooms are equipped with the necessary systems and means of ensuring security. Four classrooms are equipped with stationary multimedia kits, there are also four portable sets.  A computer class and a server room are equipped with air conditioning.

The educational process is organized by academic years (courses) and semesters (autumn and spring).

Additional costs include dormitory accommodation (for non-residents), meals, leisure and other expenses.

Enrolment process

For admission to the university, the applicant submits an application for admission to study with the application of the necessary documents:

  • identity and citizenship document;
  • document on education;
  • SNILS;
  • documents confirming special rights and/or individual achievements;
  • 2 photos (3x4).

Documents can be sent to the admissions office by mail, in electronic form or submitted in person.

Enrolment statistics

Every year, on average, about 1000 people study at the university. At the end of the 2021 intake, 138 applications were submitted for bachelor's degrees, of which 42 were for full-time and 96 for full-time and part-time forms of education.

The basis of strategic partnership is systematically developing by expanding the number of enterprises and organizations that have concluded agreements with the Nizhny Novgorod branch on sending to practice, by attracting new organizations to participate in professional orientation activities. 

Students of all areas of eductaion of the branch are provided with places of practice: basically, these are specialized organizations and enterprises that often become a place of further employment.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Persons with education of the appropriate level, confirmed by a document on secondary general education or on secondary vocational education and on qualification / on higher education and qualifications, are allowed to master bachelor's degree educational programs.

The minimum passing score according to the results of the Unified State Exam:

  • Mathematics – 27;
  • Russian language – 36;
  • Social Studies – 42;
  • History – 32.
