Mexican cuisine: what is worth trying?

Locals use simple, but very nourishing ingredients to cook national dishes: beans, corn, flatbread, meat, vegetables. They acquire a feature thanks to spicy sauces - guacamole or salsa. Mexican cuisine is so good that it is even included in the UNESCO list as an intangible heritage! We tell you which dishes should be preferred in the process of getting acquainted with the dishes of Mexico.

Burrito

It has long been considered a classic of Mexican cuisine: a filling of special juiciness in a thin cake, complemented by salad, sour cream, spicy salsa. Inside - meat with fried beans, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole. Vegetarians can try burrito stuffed with beans. This is the main representative of street food in the country, which you will meet in shops on the street, and in prestigious institutions, an analogue of our native shawarma.

Taco

The basis of tacos is corn or wheat tortillas. Fillings are very different: meat, seafood, vegetables and much more. Due to guacamole, onions, salsa, cilantro tacos has its own unique taste. All this splendor is put on a cake and folded in half.

Quesadilla

Cheese lovers will certainly like this kind of Mexican street food. Corn pita bread is stuffed with anything: meat, chicken, vegetables and much more. Quesadilla is abundantly filled with cheese. It's like a sandwich, only instead of bread – tortillas. To the quesadilla you can take a salad of vegetables or sauce.

Nachos

Corn chips from Mexico have long won love in different countries. They are usually eaten with salads or sauce. The classic version is nachos with guacamole (sauce prepared with avocado, onion, pepper).

Chilacules

Those who like spicy should try chilacules – nachos made in chili salsa. The dish can be supplemented with meat or chicken, sausage, beans. This street food is easy to find in any cities in Mexico.

Pozole

This thick corn soup cooked with chicken or pork is definitely noteworthy. There is also a vegetarian format (with beans). Very delicate spicy soup, which comes in three types: classic white, red (with tomatoes and spicy salsa) and green with guacamole.

Chile con carne

A simple spicy dish consists of chili and meat. As additional ingredients to it are sweet peppers, beans, tomatoes, spices. Suitable only for those who love spicy.

Fajita (fajitos)

The plate serves soft tortillas, grilled meat, vegetables and sauces. Usually it is spicy, but if desired, you can not add salsa and pico de gaio.

Tamales

The basis is taken corn dough, which is stuffed with minced meat, pepper, potatoes (the variety is impressive!). Then this splendor is steamed. We especially recommend cheese tamales: you definitely will not regret it!

Tres Leches

For dessert, try the famous Mexican dessert called "Three Milks": you will be fascinated by its delicate creamy taste. For cooking use ghee, condensed milk and cream. Usually Mexicans serve it with fruit. Most likely, this dessert will fascinate even those who do not like sweets too much.
