Linkoping University was founded in 1969 and today is one of Sweden's most important research sites. In 1996, the educational institution was the first in Sweden to introduce a practical medical course.

The educational institution consists of four full-fledged campuses, which are located in:

The university offers more than 120 study programs, about 550 teaching courses, interdisciplinary research for graduate students and doctoral students.
