The school's motto is «E pluribus lux» («From the many — light»). It was founded on November 21, 1908 (this date is celebrated annually), and the current building on Chemin de Préville was officially opened on October 15, 1913.
The founder, Dr. Paul Du Pasquier, was born on August 5, 1879 in Colombier (canton of Neuchâtel), received his doctorate in natural sciences from the Zurich Polytechnic Institute, and was bilingual (French/German). In the 1950s, management of the school passed to his sons Jean and Eric Du Pasquier, and the school is now led by Jean-Pierre Du Pasquier — a representative of the third generation already.
