Jordan is attracting more and more foreign students: 55,410 people from abroad are now studying at local universities. This is the absolute maximum in the history of the country! In the last 6 years alone, the number of students has grown by almost a third - from 36,789 in 2020 to the current figures. At the same time, the number of new applicants has doubled in just 5 years: in the last academic year, about 13,000 foreign students were admitted, while a few years ago there were just over 6,000.
More than half of foreign students prefer private universities and colleges, the rest are distributed among state universities. The majority of students study at the bachelor's level — 87% of such students, about every tenth student chooses a master's degree, and only a small proportion of students complete intermediate (preparatory) programs.
The phenomenon of Jordan's popularity is explained by the high quality of education, the stability of the situation within the country, and the availability of education for young people from different countries. Palestinians, Saudis, Syrians and Egyptians predominate among the students, but there are also many visitors from Iraq, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and even the Philippines.
