How to learn two languages at the same time?

How to learn two languages at the same time?

More and more people are again wondering how to learn two foreign languages at the same time. The answer is simple: you can do it, it's not difficult! The question is what methods to resort to.

The days of the classical royal gymnasium with two ancient and two new languages are gone, and there are dozens, if not hundreds, of ways to master linguistic material. Let's talk about some of them.

Every person has a country to which he has a weakness, where he would like to visit. Knowing the national language, you will be free to choose attractions and places of leisure, you will be able to feel the national color, get acquainted with customs and traditions. This is much more interesting than walking with a guide!

Many people are convinced that it is enough to know English to conquer any European (and not only a country). But the inhabitants of the north of France or the mountains of Franconia, not to mention the Chinese, whose level of proficiency in spoken English leaves much to be desired, will never agree with you. In addition, a double language barrier will be an obstacle in communicating and knowing a new part of the world for you. This is just as inevitable, like sunrise.

Perhaps someone will say that English is enough for travel. But will a temperamental Italian be able to explain to you in all its colors how much he loves his country, in restrained English? Here, English will become as much a barrier between you and the locals as your native language.

A person can get a good job, but often the job prospects are directly related to how good his level of foreign language proficiency is. Despite the total penetration of English, staff who speak several languages will be valued higher in the team.

It's the same in business. Nowadays Chinese economic situation is perfect. More and more buisness people try have deals with China . This means that  the languages of this country can be useful in doing business. And a businessman who has mastered Chinese will enjoy much greater trust and respect of local businessmen.

A foreign language provides a unique opportunity to study abroad. Yes, International Baccalaureate programs are almost ubiquitous, but sometimes English is not enough even for study. What can we say about communication?

You will be good among the local student community if you cannot speak the same language with them! Isolation has never done anyone any good.

And these are just a few of the most notable reasons. And there are many more, mind you.

Let's just note that personal motivation is very important here. There it is – go ahead!

How to avoid confusion?

There is a point of view that learning two foreign languages in parallel will cause a hodgepodge in the head. It happens that a person unconsciously translates the rules of grammar of one language into another, or words or sounds are confused.

How can this effect called interference be avoided?

Prevention and prevention.

When learning, it is important to understand the similarities and differences between the two languages. This allows you to memorize subtle places and separate the use of different words from different languages.

For example, there are articles in both French and English, but in French they have a generic feature, and in English it is absent, which somewhat simplifies communication.

You should initially take the installation that there is nothing wrong with this, calm down - and then there will be no problems. Interference, with all its horrors, will slip past like a jellyfish in the sea.

Learning one language with another is the perfect solution

There is no reason why languages would interfere with each other. Interference can be used as a positive factor! Try to translate from two languages that are not native to you. It is better to start with the simplest phrases from everyday life and modest in size dialogues.

As the material is mastered, it should be complicated. You can take a French textbook for the English, for example. So you will improve your English skills and learn French: double the benefit!
