Souvlaki

Moussaka

Dolmads

This dish resembles the familiar cabbage rolls, but the Greeks prefer to wrap the filling in the leaves of grapes, which makes them quite small. Usually dolmads are stuffed with lamb and served hot. There is also a version for vegetarians: dolmads are stuffed with rice, supplemented with raisns or pine nuts. They are served cold with lemon juice.

Taramosalata

A truly Greek dish that is served as an snack at the beginning of Lent. Taramosalata is a creamy paste consisting of salted carp caviar (or other fish), white bread, olive oil, grated red onions and lemon juice. Sometimes the basis for the dish is potatoes (together bread). All ingredients are crushed and mixed in a strict order. Tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, greens are also served with taramosalat.

Choriatics

This is a Greek country salad, serving as a great addition to the main dishes. The base consists of ripe tomatoes, fresh cucumbers, olive oil, oregano and salt. If desired, you can add red onions, olives, feta.

Spanacopita

This is the name of dry phyllo pie with the addition of cream filling, spinach, feta, eggs and dill. The dish, despite its simplicity, has a delicious balanced taste. Greeks generally love pies – sweet and not only.

Beans

Not too well-known national Greek dish - white bean soup - is quite easy to prepare, but has a wonderful taste. The soup also includes tomatoes, onions, celery, carrots. Unusual aroma give beans thyme, parsley and bay leaf.

Kuluri

Soft bagels made from sweet dough, sprinkled with sesame or poppy seeds, are considered a popular snack. Kuluri is sold in many cafes.

Loukoumades
