The summer combined English course completely immerses children in the language environment, due to which the academic progress becomes much more intense and clearer, and the results at the end of the course are more impressive: in the early days the students easily overcome the language and communication barrier. All communication is conducted in English within the framework of the summer camp: in class, excursions, electives, entertaining events.
Before starting the studying, all students undergo preliminary testing, which determines their initial language level, and are divided into groups according to age:
- Teens (9-12 years)
- Juniors (13-15 years)
- Seniors (16-18 years).
Daily lessons (and each day 8, each lesson = 45 minutes) are divided into thematic blocks:
- 4 lessons: study of grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening; improvement of written and spoken language, expansion of vocabulary
- 2 classes: seminars on various topics, group tasks for creative or academic topics, active development of communication skills
- 2 lessons: preparation for the upcoming excursion (discussion, route planning, interesting historical and cultural facts). Additional lessons are possible at the general English course, help with homework, individual consultations of teachers.
Description of Downe House Summer School
The Downe House School is one of the UK's most prestigious language school. From the campus it is easy to reach the world-famous Oxford University Center (only half an hour), to London (hour) and to Heathrow International Airport (45 minutes), which greatly facilitates the transfer to children.
One of the main priorities of school personnel is the safety and comfort of each student. The ratio of staff to children is 1:4: all students are supervised around the clock, the entire territory is carefully guarded 24/7.
Accommodation, meals, prices
For children, the school's own residences are provided - cozy and comfortable rooms with all the necessary furniture and appliances. Students are accommodated in rooms for 2-4 people: teens pupils (10-13 years) and Juniors (14-15 years) , and older children (Seniors, 16-19 Years) can occupy single and double bedrooms.
Boys and girls live separately. Cleaning is done daily, and children have the opportunity to use the laundry free of charge.
Boarding meals: thrice a day plus two snacks, clean drinking water and soft drinks are freely available. A special diet can be organized that meets the personal, medical or religious rules of the student (vegetarian or vegan dishes, kosher and halal, lean food, dietary ration). When students of Lines Downe House go on excursions, everyone gets a full-fledged lunch pack.

Drama and musical mastery studios, choreography, craft workshops and creative classes have been opened. Constantly held fun holidays, parties, discos, quizzes, games and competitions. Each week there are 2 excursions: student groups inspect the collections of the best museums and galleries of art, famous cultural, historical and architectural monuments (for example, the Madame Tussauds Museum). Among the most popular destinations are Oxford and London. Also, children adore large amusement parks, where you can relax all day.
For the students of Downe House, who plan to build a career in the sports field, there is an optional Pro Sport option. You can practice professionally with football, tennis or golf, and the Pro program is available in the music direction. With the students there are highly qualified, experienced instructors, able to make an optimal and effective studying program for everyone. The football section works together with Chelsea FC, tennis - together with Gosling in the Center of Excellence LTA, and the golf program is held together with Donnington Grove. To enter the Pro Sport program, you must consider the following features:
- Minimum reservation - 2 weeks, minimum intensity - 4 workouts weekly;
- The program is booked in advance, before arrival at the school;
- The equipment, sports uniform and protection are brought by the students themselves;
- Standard Pro-Sport course - 8 studying sessions (each for 45 minutes).

Facilities and equipment at Downe House Summer School
The huge campus of the school (area - 110 acres) includes everything necessary for rest and studying of teenagers. There are all kinds of fields and playgrounds for sports and active recreation, team games, there is a private pool (indoor, length of 25 meters, heated water) and 13 courts for tennis, 3 squash courts, theater and art studios, modern fitness studio and a gym with the latest equipment.
