High School in Canada covers studying in grades 9-12. The academic year here is divided not into quarters, but into semesters (each for 6 months). In high school, more attention is paid to immersion in the subject, and students choose disciplines independently (based on personal inclinations and the specialty planned in the future).

The educational program in high school has similarities with the university. The number of subjects studied during the academic year is eight. The studying takes place in blocks, each of which includes 4 subjects. Among compulsory are mathematics, English, French, drama, history, physical education.

There are two levels of teaching the subject that differ in the level of immersion:

• Standard (College Level);
• Advanced (University Level).

The student chooses the desired level of teaching himself. Thus, based on the analysis of the student's abilities and inclinations, a personal studying plan is drawn up, including a set of subjects studied and the level of their teaching.

To obtain a certificate of secondary education, a student must gain a certain number of credits (each subject studied is equal to one credit). For 4 years of study in high school, a student must receive 30 credits (that is, complete a course of study in 30 subjects, 8 of which are mandatory).

At the end of each course, the student takes an exam on the studied subject. When setting the final grade, the grades for independent work, presentations and projects performed on this subject are also taken into account. Thus, the total score consists of the assessment for the exam and the assessment for the independent work done during the academic year (50:50).

If the average grade in the subject is high, the student may be exempted from the exam in this discipline. As an exam in a creative discipline, a student is invited to perform a particular creative task. In the main subjects (mathematics, literacy), the student is invited to take additional testing.

Immediately after receiving the certificate, a graduate who has already turned 18 years old submits documents to the selected higher educational institution. The school provides assistance for his successful admission: meetings with psychologists and representatives of universities, preparatory courses in selected disciplines are organized throughout the year.

After the package of documents is reviewed and approved, the future student is invited to an interview, after which an official decision on enrollment is issued. The student can start applying for a student visa.
