Intensive English Diploma

An intensive English course helps novice students achieve their goals and improve their knowledge in an atmosphere of support from qualified teachers, classmates and modern technologies. Classes are held both in groups and alone with the teacher.

The basis of the program is the development of reading, grammar and writing, speaking and listening comprehension. Students effectively increase their vocabulary and confidently use new knowledge in everyday life. Lessons will be based on a personal curriculum built around the student's goals, as students develop their skills, the teacher will check progress and teach new ways to improve language development.

Every week, each student receives six reports on the work done, at the end of each week, tests are held to assess the assimilation of academic material.

Each student has access to an online platform that includes personalized resources and teacher notes, interactive sessions, and progress information. In an online format, you can send homework, take part in group conversations and receive short consultations from teachers.

Foundation (Preparatory Courses)

Foundation programs are aimed at preparing students for admission to the university. At Cambridge School, they are taught in several directions:

  • Humanities
  • Natural Sciences and Engineering,
  • Business.

The first two programs are taught in a standard format and include 21 hours of specialized classes weekly in classes of up to 14 people. Over the course of three trimesters, under the guidance of specialist teachers, students will explore the basics of their chosen specialty, undergo internships and create individual projects. In addition to excellent knowledge, students will gain academic English skills in order to successfully continue their studies at the university. Each of the standard courses begins on September 25.

The Business program is taught in two formats: standard and intensive. The intensive course lasts for two semesters and is suitable for students with a high level of English - from B2. The weekly workload is 25.5 hours of group classes in small classes, which allows teachers to pay individual attention to each pupil.

Cambridge Exam Preparation

The Cambridge English qualification is a qualification of B2 and C1 levels. By obtaining a certificate from this exam, students will be able to prove their language skills and enroll in the best universities in English-speaking countries.

Students receive a personal learning plan based on strengths and weaknesses. Classes are held in small groups of 10-14 people and are based on regular testing, a communicative approach and improving listening comprehension. 

At the end of the course, students increase their level of English by one: from B1 to B2, from B2 to C1.

CELTA

The CELTA certificate is recognized as the gold standard, confirming the high qualifications of English teachers around the world. On the campus of Cambridge School, students from the age of 18 can gain applied teaching skills, tools and methods of modern education, and confidence in building a career.

With full attendance at all classes, students will receive high-quality knowledge in a smooth, step-by-step system. They will attend group meetings (up to six people), create projects and learn modern approaches to training young professionals.

The "part-time format" is suitable for students who are ready to combine study with work, sightseeing and life in England. The content of the course does not differ from the standard form, but classes will be held in smaller numbers and at different hours.

Thanks to the course, students will improve their knowledge of the English language and understand the formula for teaching it to foreign citizens. The program is based on 120 hours of communication with qualified teachers aimed at exploring key concepts:

  • Knowledge of the language,
  • Phonology
  • Language learning tactics,
  • Teaching methodology,
  • Professional development.

Students undergo regular knowledge tests and reports from teachers that will help them succeed in their careers.

The DELTA certificate is a highly regarded and internationally recognized teaching qualification. Completion of all three modules will require serious involvement in the learning process, enthusiasm and a commitment to continuous professional development. 

At Cambridge School, you can explore the first two modules: DELTA 1 and DELTA 2. They are built on the fusion of theory and practice - classes will be held in groups of up to 6 people and alone with teachers. The training will help develop a professional approach to the transfer of knowledge to young professionals, show ways to find an individual approach to students, and help improve English to a perfect level.

General English (General English Course)

  • Start dates are every Monday throughout the year,
  • The duration of training is from 1 to 24 weeks or more.

This flexible course will help students improve basic skills in English: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Teachers draw up a personal training plan for each student, adjusting it to existing knowledge and academic goals. The number of lessons also varies according to the student's wishes: 15, 20 or 25 hours per week.

Regular meetings with teachers will help students in assessing their success and identifying shortcomings, and promote confidence in further learning. Online resources have been added to the classroom learning materials, which are available around the clock. Students have a personal account, which takes into account their success, progress, tasks from teachers, group conferences aimed at training conversational skills.

Each student can independently choose the duration of training: from one to 24 weeks or more. Admission is possible on any Monday during the year, excluding holidays.

IELTS Preparation (Подготовка к IELTS)

IELTS is an internationally recognised qualification that allows students to demonstrate their language level when applying to a university, obtaining a visa or a job. The certificate is accepted in many schools, higher institutions, companies, and the government.  

This course aims to prepare for the exam and develop the skills and techniques needed to achieve a high score. Students are provided with an individualized learning plan based on their goals, level of English proficiency, and desired timeline for completing the program. 

The course has a weekly registration, so applicants can enroll every Monday throughout the year and choose how long they will study; Full-time modules allow you to choose between 15, 20 or 25 hours of training per week. Preparation for the IELTS exam takes a minimum of 15 hours per week. Students have the opportunity to add additional classes in the afternoon, which will be devoted to practicing certain skills.  

Students are provided with learning materials both in the classroom and online. Having a personal account on an electronic platform, students of the course receive personalized comments from teachers, interactive tasks and information about progress.

Master's Preparation

The Master's degree program combines the study of academic English at the postgraduate level, the development of study skills and preparation for the IELTS or GMAT exams. Teachers will not only provide students with the tools necessary for admission to the chosen university, but will also help them achieve great success during their studies and final dissertation, research project.

Basics of the program:

  • Academic English: development of reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Weekly classes for 6 hours + 4.5 hours of exam preparation,
  • Study skills: studying and preparing for the IELTS or GMAT exam for 3 hours a week,
  • Learning Support Program: development of self-study skills, consultations with representatives of the best universities in the country,
  • Strengthening academic skills: preparation for various forms of assessment, research and projects,
  • Academic writing: effective solution of exam questions, writing term papers and essays,
  • Academic reading: skimming and understanding texts, highlighting key points and evaluating,
  • Academic listening: placing accents, pauses and adjusting intonation.

At the end of the course, students will gain important skills that will help them enroll in master's programs and successfully obtain qualifications.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school offers several options for comfortable accommodation located near educational buildings. Some of the complexes accept students as young as 16, however, most are available to students over the age of 18.

For 16-year-old students, the following are open:

  • Sorrento Residence is a cozy year-round hotel complex located near the city center. Residents are provided with single rooms with private bathrooms. The bedrooms have color TVs, safes, necessary furniture and access to free WiFi. Common areas: amenities of the neighboring hotel, round-the-clock reception, daily buffet breakfasts, kitchens and laundry. There is also a restaurant where students can buy lunches and dinners, as they are not provided in the residence. Free parking is available on site. Near the residence there are small parks, a bus station with private buses, cafes and restaurants, a cinema. Accommodation will cost £345 per week.
  • Scholars House is a summer special residence for students from 16 to 18 years old, offering separate bedrooms with bathrooms. It is located close to shops, cafes and restaurants, large parks. Students receive two meals a day: breakfasts and dinners daily. For common use, the building has a recreation area with a kitchenette, free Wi-Fi, storage of equipment and bicycles, a laundry room and a landscaped courtyard. Accommodation here will cost £425 per week.
  • St Barnabas Place is a summer hotel located in the city centre, close to the train station. It is open from July 9 to August 19. Students are accommodated in single and double rooms with private bathrooms. Rooms are cleaned and bed linen is changed weekly. Each tenant is provided with breakfasts and dinners on weekdays. Accommodation in a single room will cost £445, and in a double room - £330 per week.

Options for residential complexes for those students who have reached the age of 18:

  • Garden House is a year-round residence located on the school's campus. The proximity to the classrooms allows residents to use the infrastructure of the institution more easily than those living in other complexes. Near the campus there are many cafes and restaurants, a train station with local buses, prayer rooms. Students are accommodated in furnished single or dormitory rooms. In common use there are kitchens, bathrooms and toilets, a garden, a laundry room. All rooms are cleaned weekly, like a change of bed linen. A week's stay here will cost £310 in a single room and £345 in a dormitory. 
  • The Frank Bell Residence is a hotel opened in September 2019 and offers comfortable single rooms in the standard and premium segment all year round. It has 17 furnished bedrooms with private bathrooms, access to a shared kitchen and seating area. The hotel does not provide meals. Cost per week: £355 for a standard room, £370 for a premium.
  • Castle Court is a modern student residence in the city center. It provides studios with double beds, bathrooms and kitchens. Residents can use areas for self-study and communication, an open courtyard, billiards and table tennis tables, a gym and a bath complex. No meals are provided. The cost of living is £345 per week.
  • The Railyard is a newly built summer student residence on Station Road, within walking distance of Cambridge city centre. The building is equipped with a gym, a storage room for bicycles, a games room and a shared lounge. Single rooms with self-study rooms, fully equipped kitchenettes, bathrooms are provided for accommodation. No meals are provided. The weekly cost is £345.

A separate and most convenient type of accommodation for foreign students is accommodation in a host family. It's a great way to experience British life and practise English off campus. Families are carefully selected and regularly screened to ensure that pupils have the best conditions. Students are accommodated in single bedrooms, however doubles are available on request if the student comes with a classmate/friend/relative of the same gender.

The cost of weekly accommodation in a single room with additional services:

  • Daily breakfast - 210 £,
  • Daily breakfasts and dinners - 250 £,
  • A special diet is a supplement to the price of £25 per week.

The homes of host families are no more than an hour's drive from the campus, the nearest places are located within a five-minute walk.
