Youngstown State University (YSU)

Youngstown State University is an educational institution of a state type in America, which has been actively engaged in scientific and academic activities since the distant 1908. The main building of the university is located in Youngstown on the territory of a small campus.

This is a secondary educational institution that can accommodate up to 20,000 people.

The university offers education in both in-person and online formats. Each student has access to an academic support system: advising is organized within each college, while first-year and conditionally enrolled students receive individual academic coaching and tutoring at the Resch Academic Success Center (ASC). The institution also operates a Mathematics Achievement Center for mathematics assistance.

Student-athletes are assigned to dedicated athletic academic advisors who monitor their academic progress and NCAA eligibility compliance.

• College of STEM — the first and only college in Ohio entirely dedicated to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; includes the Rayen School of Engineering, as well as programs in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, forensic science, mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, geoinformatics, ecology, and engineering technology.
• Cliffe College of Creative Arts — creative and performing arts, including the Dana School of Music and the art department,
• Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Education — humanities and social sciences, education,
• Bitonte College of Health and Human Services — healthcare and social services.

The university has a College of Graduate Studies offering master's and doctoral programs, as well as College Credit Plus for schoolchildren, which delivers an early enrollment program.

• YSU is the first and only college in the state of Ohio entirely dedicated to STEM: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics,

The university offers freshmen accommodation in campus residences. Among the dormitories for first-year students are Cafaro House, Lyden House, and Kilcawley House. The university offers a rich extracurricular life: the campus hosts more than 200 student organizations and associations, with well-developed student government, student media, the creative association Penguin Productions, club sports, and Greek communities — fraternities and sororities.

The athletic teams compete under the name «Penguins» in the NCAA system, and the Kilcawley Center serves as the hub of student life. The university's museums and galleries, as well as cultural events on campus, round out the leisure offerings.
