Oberlin College

Oberlin College is a non-profit private higher education institution that first opened its doors to prospective graduates back in 1833 in the United States of America. The university currently has a small campus located away from the bustle of Oberlin.

The college is considered small because it can take up to 3,000 students each year. International exchange programs are available to students and faculty.

At the core of the educational approach is individual attention: students work in close contact with instructors and build their curriculum around their own interests and goals. The institution offers a wide range of support services: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, Cooper International Learning Center, career development services, and the Academic Advising and Resource Center (AARC).

Also available are more than 100 Study Away abroad programs and the Internship+ program, which provides all students with access to internships.

The academic structure of the college includes two divisions:

• College of Arts and Sciences — bachelor's programs across a wide range of disciplines,
• Conservatory of Music — seven principal majors, nine diploma programs, and 42 areas of individual study. The conservatory also offers graduate programs: Master of Fine Arts in Piano Technology, Master of Music in Historical Performance, and the Artist Diploma.

A five-year dual degree program is available with a choice of more than 90 majors.

• The Conservatory of Music has been awarded the National Medal of Arts,
• The Allen Memorial Art Museum has been recognized as one of the five best university art museums in the USA,
• The energy-efficient Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies building, powered by solar panels, has received national recognition as a model of «green» construction technologies.

College and Conservatory students live in shared residences on campus. In addition to standard residential buildings, there are themed "program houses": for example, Afrikan Heritage House, which houses about 66 students, and Asia House — one of the largest houses with an average of about 80 residents.

Dining is organized in campus cafeterias through a meal plan; College and Conservatory students share common dining areas.

Extracurricular life is closely tied to art and music: numerous ensembles are active, the Artist Recital Series takes place, and Oberlin Opera Theater productions and a piano festival are organized.

Student opportunities include a museum docent program, student radio, theatrical and dance productions, a concert council, and specialized organizations. The college develops varsity and club sports.

It is a college that has consistently updated the list of the best universities in the world over the past few years.

Students of this institution of higher education have access to a large scientific library. In addition, all foreign students can count on affordable hostel housing. Also noteworthy is the fact that in addition to the group of the Council of Independent Colleges, the university is also a member of the Association of Five Ohio Colleges and sports associations and memberships: National Collegiate Sports Association etc.

Based on the results of the admissions cycle, the College of Arts and Sciences received 10,428 applications, with 652 students enrolled; the Conservatory of Music received 1,850 applications, with 161 students enrolled.

• SAT (reading and writing) 710–760,
• SAT (math) 680–770.

Oberlin graduates show high results in further studies and careers: over the past five years, the law school admission rate for graduates has been 97%, and more than 10% of graduates work in law-related fields. Graduates in the arts are represented in major contemporary art exhibition halls, and have received Emmy, Tony, Grammy, and Pulitzer awards.

The special admission committee conducts enrollment of students every year. In addition to documents, each applicant must also pass exams and report on their past performance. The competitive program at the university is not that difficult, given that no more than three people apply for one place at the university. At the same time, both local residents and foreign students can enter the university. There is also a choice for those who have come: to study internally or remotely.

Given the high cost of tuition at this college, the scholarship allows everyone to save some money. After all, on condition of good academic performance, students receive a scholarship.

Oberlin's financial policy reflects a historic commitment to educational access: the college fully meets the demonstrated financial need of every enrolled student. More than two-thirds of students receive need-based aid. Each year, the college directs more than $100 million in direct grants to students, and also offers generous merit scholarships. Financial aid, including grants, scholarships, loans, and on-campus employment, is available to international students as well.
