In 1973, Wilfrid Laurier University was founded, abbreviated WLU. Wilfrid Laurier University is one of the most famous universities in Canada with a central building located in Waterloo.

The music faculty hosts more than 100 open concerts, solo performances, master classes, and other events annually.

WLU is an average university by the number of students. It receives an education of no more than 15 thousand students. Among them are many foreigners.

International applicants with external funding or sponsorship may be considered without Laurier funding.

Recipients of major external awards may be eligible for additional support, including the Dean’s Graduate Scholarship valued at over $10,000 in total. Awards considered for the top-up include the Ontario Graduate Scholarship, the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology, the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship — Master’s, and the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship — Doctoral. Students in professional programs may have access to the Graduate Incentive Scholarship with a top-up of $1,000.

Students in graduate programs at Martin Luther University College are not eligible for internal funding administered by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
