The University of Regensburg is the unity of teaching and research. The main principle: to ensure the independence of students in research, because this is the only way to achieve results. The educational institution is known for its conservatism.
In the first academic year 1967-1968, 3 faculties were available to students, today there are already 12: they are devoted to the study of Catholic theology, natural sciences and medicine, humanities, law, economics and business.
Many famous people at one time were students of this university: Thomas Whitfield (inventor), Edmund Stoiber (politician), Karl Stetter (microbiologist), Pope Benedict XVI (theologian and head of the Catholic Church).
At the moment, a set of 12 specialties is being conducted:
One of the main attractions of the university territory is the Botanical Garden and the University Theater ( Theater an der Uni).
On the territory of the university, the infrastructure of this town was created: a dining room, a pizzeria, a bank, bookstores and others. Each student receives data to connect to the Internet anywhere on the campus, access to the university computer center, which has an extensive library, which includes 3.5 million publications, united by an electronic catalog.
Not only the university is adapted for people with disabilities, but also dormitories, which are located in close proximity to the educational buildings.
In addition to the educational activities, the students ’leisure activities are organized in a quality manner: they are in clubs, music ensembles and theater studios, hold exhibitions, students organize audio-visual studios and sports sections.
