The language school operates on the basis of the University of Cincinnati, which is in the TOP-150 American universities, in the top 25 research universities in the United States (according to the National Science Foundation). Successful completion of the program here automatically means reaching a level of English sufficient for admission to the University of Cincinnati, as well as to other colleges and universities in the United States.

The University of Cincinnati English Language School operates as an official center for the IELTS language exam, whose certificates are accepted in 140 countries, in 10,000 educational institutions. This is a real proof of the high level of English, without which it is impossible for a foreigner to enter universities in English-speaking countries.

The English as a Foreign Language (ELS) program has 12 levels, from Beginner to Masters. For the development of each level, 4 weeks of classes are allocated, after which you can move on to the next one. Before the start of lessons, all students undergo an introductory distribution test to find out the level:

• Beginner:
  • Communication on the most general topics, everyday conversations
  • Understanding English if the interlocutor speaks clearly and slowly
  • Small vocabulary
  • Can answer simple questions and directions.
• Intermediate:
  • Can exchange information, facts, opinions, conduct a discussion and argue his point of view
  • Understands most questions and requests at the standard speed of the interlocutor's speech
  • Confidently uses English in everyday life: shop, restaurant
  • Can talk to native speakers.
• Advanced:
  • Communicates confidently in most situations
  • Confidently conducts a conversation with native English speakers
  • Knows most idioms, has a good vocabulary
  • Speaks and writes accurately, fluently, quickly and competently.
• Masters:
  • Easily speaks and understands English
  • Writes and reads even highly specialized, complex texts with professional coloring, university level
  • Can participate in business processes in English.

Two accommodation options are available for students of language programs.

Residence on the campus of the university

Apartments similar to students of basic university programs are the best way to feel like a real student of an American university!

Host family

Families and their homes are selected according to the age and interests of students, with their requirements. This is an ideal opportunity to get acquainted with American traditions, everyday life, practice the language with native speakers – and live in a cozy, calm environment. All houses are located in transport accessibility from both the center and the school (bus stops are always nearby), in quiet areas with quiet neighbors.

In addition to the traditional ways to spend time in a beautiful city – stroll through local streets and parks, visit museums, sports games and events – students are invited to try the special tourist opportunities of Cincinnati:

• Museum of Art (one of the best in the country, the collection is mainly represented by the works of European and American masters of the XIX century);
• City park (more than 2025 hectares in the city and 4900 hectares of suburban areas).
