English Language Courses

Pre-sessional English courses offer foreign students an effective improvement in their existing language level. The curriculum provides the fastest path to achieving the points required for admission to higher education programs, it is specifically designed to meet individual learning needs, has five adapted levels so that students can absorb knowledge at their own pace. The course is offered in flexible durations ranging from one to four semesters, but most students study for one academic year.

Global Summer School

In the summer months, Lancaster University hosts short-term courses focused on helping foreign first-year students adapt to the English-speaking environment, study interesting topics and areas, relax and build a multinational team. Several thematic programs are offered:

  • International cultural experience – an opportunity to immerse yourself in the study of the history and customs of Great Britain,
  • Environment, sustainable development – research in the field of ecology, nature management, water purification,
  • Filmography – training from leading cinema specialists,
  • Global Media Studies – immersion in the study of the media, the development of creativity, analytical thinking,
  • International Commercial Law – Basic Legal Study Experience,
  • Introduction to Law – Exploring current legal issues, deepening understanding of legal research processes,
  • War and Diplomacy – Studies of historically important dates, situations and tipping points, conflicts and individuals.

Each program lasts three weeks and has two start dates. Students are provided not only with exciting classes in small groups, but also accommodation in a comfortable residence, meals, a wide range of extracurricular activities and comprehensive support from university staff.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Overseas applicants who have previously studied in other education systems must first complete the International Foundation or Pre-Master's + language course to improve their English language proficiency. To enter the preparatory stage, you must provide:

  • Personal documents: passport, visa or residence permit, health insurance,
  • Certificate of Completion of Secondary Education / Bachelor's Diploma, Evaluation Certificates
  • IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent language exam results. The level shown in the certificate will affect the duration of the preparatory course and the need for additional English classes.

For admission to higher education programs, a candidate must have a certificate of a preparatory course, a full package of personal documents, a personal application and letters of recommendation from teachers, researchers from the previous place of study.

Scholarships Lancaster University

Lancaster University allocates a large-scale amount annually to reward students who are especially successful in learning, sports, creativity or science.
