TOP-10 dishes of Hungarian national cuisine

TOP-10 dishes of Hungarian national cuisine

The cuisine of Hungary is fragrant, delicate and spicy in taste, has a high nutritional value. In our brief review, we will tell you that it is mandatory to try a tourist in Budapest or a visitor to a restaurant of national cuisine in any other corner of the globe.

Goulash

Goulash in Hungary should be tried as a matter of priority. This is a cross between soup and the second: rich, well-appointed and very tasty. It is prepared as follows: pieces of veal meat are fried with lard and onion to a crust, after which they are supplemented with fried potatoes, tomatoes and broth generously flavored with paprika.

It has nothing to do with the crap you tried in your Soviet childhood. Try it, you won't regret it! By the way , paprika can be brought from Hungary as a culinary souvenir: it is cheap there and an order of magnitude better than almost anything that can be bought in Russia.

Lecho

There are dozens and hundreds of varieties and recipes of Eastern European conservation, but Hungarian ones occupy a special place among them. The composition will always be present mature tomatoes and bell peppers, onions and paprika. Hungarians eat lecho and as a separate dish, they have variations with sausages of pork or veal, but foreigners are more accustomed to seeing in this thing a side dish to meat dishes. To feel like a Hungarian, try to eat the remains of liquid sauce with the help of a pulp of white bread.

Perkelt

What I like about national Magyar cuisine is its unsuitability for a vegetarian lifestyle. Take this treat: it's just made to seduce herbs from the path of herbaceouss, turning the last vegan into a predator!

The recipe is based on pork pulp separated from the bones, fried, and then simmered in a sauce of paprika, onion, garlic and pepper. Meat can be replaced, but the classic version is better than all the others. In eateries and restaurants throughout Hungary, you will be served this masterpiece with a side dish of targonya - macaroons with an unusual and nothing like taste.

Paprikash

Paprikash wins fans from the first spoon, this is one of the most popular Hungarian dishes. It is best to start acquaintance with the chicken version, it is the most popular.

It is done as follows: the chicken is fried to a golden color, in parallel, similar procedures are carried out with pepper, onions and garlic slices. After that, everything is stirred and simmered in chicken broth with paprika until the meat absorbs all the juices and becomes tender, like the ass of a baby. Then everything is poured with sour cream sauce and served with tarkhonya, potatoes or white bread.

Fatañeros

Another delicacy for meat eaters, a must-have tasting in the city restaurants of the capital of Hungary. The portions are damn large, served as an assortment on a wooden platter. They are fried on an open fire or coals slices of veal, goose liver and bacon, served with vegetable cuts and fragrant potatoes.

Appetizing and very tasty! It will not be possible to bring home, but a serving wooden plate is an excellent souvenir, reminiscent of Hungary and its generous cuisine.

Debrechen sausages

They are juicy, fragrant, spicy – what else do you need to give them a heart, and their stomach? The composition causes salivation even when reading: cow meat, pork, paprika in a natural shell. Smoked, but the smallest, leaving inside soft and juicy.

This popular street food is eaten with mustard (but not French - you need a real Eastern European, sharp, so that the eyes on the forehead climb). Often used to prepare national dishes, damn good and on their own.

Halasle

This is a fish dish, appetizing in appearance, fragrant and awesomely tasty. Tomato soup with fish, whose amazing taste is born as a result of genuine sacrament in the kitchens of respectable Hungarian housewives. The broth is obtained from fried on onions with lard and paprika pieces of fish, filled with tomato and simmered until homogeneous. After that, the broth is filtered, pieces of fish of noble varieties are added and cooked until ready.

Langos

Another type of Hungarian street food, we advise everyone. Of course, not very useful, but tasty. In fact, the Magyar answer to the hamburger: a bun of deep-fried yeast dough with a sauce of cheese, paprika and garlic.

It is best to buy at fairs for Christmas or Independence Day, and on ordinary days - in shops in squares and small bakeries in the city center. There are certainly fresh - not stored, heating is not tolerated.

Dobosh

This is sweet, and in Hungary we advise you to start acquaintance with confectionery products with it. It is named after the famous cake maker and pie maker Josef Doboš.

In the classic version, it is six layers of biscuit with chocolate in layers and caramel glaze at the top. We haven't seen any decent options outside of Hungary.

By the way, the cake was dearly loved by two empresses of Austria-Hungary: Elizabeth of Bavaria Sissi and Tsica of Parma. You can bring home fresh or frozen to surprise your family and friends.

Kurteshkalach

Another foodstreet and food fair and festive look, but can be found on ordinary days, if you walk along the tourist routes. It is also found in its natural habitat - bakeries, cafes, stalls.  It is baked on a spit on an open fire: ready-made tubes from the dough are so soft and tender that you can eat even without filler - only in a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon powder. Nevertheless, chocolate, ice cream or cream are usually stuffed inside. A close relative of the Czech trdelniks.
