Malta has experienced a real boom in foreign students: in the last academic year, the number of international students increased by almost a third – by as much as 27%! These figures show the growing popularity of the island as a place to study, especially among young people from India, Nigeria, France and Libya. The key factors for the success of the Mediterranean island at the international level are:
- High-quality education in English, which is recognized by the European Union,
- Affordable prices for living and education,
- The ability to recover a significant part of the cost of education after graduation,
- Attractive career prospects due to the demand for graduates of local universities.
Indian students are leading in terms of growth rates: in just a year, their number has doubled - from 1,000 to 2,300, that is, by 130%. This trend reflects the overall attractiveness of Maltese higher education, especially for countries in Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Almost every graduate of a local university finds a job immediately after completing the studying program.
In addition to classical higher education, foreign students are actively choosing to study English on the island: the number of students in thematic courses has grown to an impressive 80,000+ in the last academic year.
Despite its small territory, Malta confidently competes with major European educational centers, proving that the size of the country does not at all determine its importance in the field of world education.
