Japanese children now have the opportunity to enter not a classical, but a VR school! The implementation of the project was approved by the Ministry of Education of Japan with the approval of state-recognized certificates and a unified curriculum.
In the VR school, there are no standard lessons at desks — children study in the metaverse in an online format. The school provides students with special equipment for working with VR technologies and a computer that supports them for private use from home. To register in the metaverse, children create their own 3D avatar, which is designed in anime images, prescribe the individual characteristics of the character, choose his image, and already avatars go to virtual lessons in virtual classrooms in the form of a standard class.
In addition to regular lessons, children can take in-depth programs and preparatory courses before applying to the University of Tokyo, Waseda and Keio universities, and engage in esports and creativity in free time.
The advantages of distance learning include:
- Individual pace of learning,
- Reducing the level of tension due to communication with peers who can tease, for example, due to body features,
- Simplification of the issue of the way to school (transfer),
- Taking into account the personal characteristics of socialization through the combination of online and offline formats.
The academic year at the VR school started on September 1 along with the rest of the institutions. Now it works on the basis of Yushi International High School. Both residents of Japan and foreign students can study at the VR school.
