General English Group

  • The duration of training is from one week.

The General English program is a standard course for many language schools. It consists of academic classes aimed at developing reading, speaking, listening, writing and vocabulary skills.

The Vancouver campus offers group and individual lessons for students from A1 to C1: beginner to advanced. Group lessons are held in a class of up to 12 people - no more than 20 such classes per week. Individual meetings with the teacher imply support for academic performance, working out weaknesses in knowledge. Every week, the schedule includes from 16 to 23 hours of language classes of any format.

IELTS Preparation

  • Age - from 16 years,
  • The training period is four weeks.

The four-week preparation course for one of the international IELTS language exams includes 20 morning lessons of general English and 10 afternoon lessons of specialized training.

The program is available to students who have a level of knowledge not lower than B1.

Students will be trained in writing the exam on a clear structure: written, oral and practical sections. Students will gain the skills of writing essays and reading information from graphs, analyzing leading questions and answering them , describing their own ideas and thoughts, and their argumentation.

Cambridge English Preparation

  • Age - from 16 years,
  • The training period is from 8 to 12 weeks.

The Cambridge exam preparation course is aimed at improving the level of linguistics: from B2 to C1 for 8-12 weeks. This exam is taken annually by several thousand foreign citizens to get a job or enroll in a university.

In small classes of 9 to 12 students, students will attend 20-30 English lessons weekly. They will go through all stages of training, improving their knowledge in reading, writing, pronunciation and listening comprehension, and replenish their vocabulary.

International Semester Courses

  • The duration of training is from 24 weeks.

Students wishing to gain experience of living and studying abroad are offered a semester-long English language course.

This flexible program provides students with the opportunity to choose between two learning formats: intensive or phased with part-time academic days. Intensive classes include 28 language lessons per week, while part-time lessons allow you to combine 20 morning/afternoon lessons with exploring the culture, sights and local life in Canada.

The basis of the program is classes in general English: the development of reading, speaking, writing and listening skills, improving vocabulary. In parallel with the language classes, students can take one of the elective modules of the school and pass it in the final exam.

Knowledge of English for studying under the International Semester Courses program is not important, since the course is available to students with any level: from beginner (A1) and above.

Vancouver (Summer School) is a small cozy center offering English language programs to students from 16 years old. This place is ideal for students who need a high level of personal attention and support in the learning process. Despite the small size of the institution, the school offers a wide range of courses for any level of linguistics: from beginner to advanced.

There is a special Platinum Center, which hosts classes for professionals in various fields, managers and adult students.

Suitable for students who want to get to know the culture of the locals better.   • Residences (from 19 years old)

The residences are ideal for students staying in Vancouver for more than a month. They often offer residents single or double rooms with private/shared bathrooms, some with kitchens. The closest to the study area are YWCA, APT, GEC Residences.

  • Hotels

The closest hotel is Lord Stanley Suites. It rents out rooms only to those who have reached the age of 19 and is a great option for those who would like a more independent life.

Activities Vancouver Summer School

Throughout the year, there are many different events on and off campus. The summer months of study are complemented by such as:

  • Travel to the VanDusen Botanical Garden,
  • Hiking trip to Lynn Canyon,
  • Visiting the observation point on the Vancouver skyscraper,
  • "Happy Hour" is a collective gathering for speaking practice,
  • Nights of board and active games,
  • Tasting of dishes, drinks blindly,
  • Excursions on the theme "World of Science": museums, research centers and laboratories,
  • A visit to the highest natural point in Vancouver – Queen Elizabeth Park,
  • Going to the sports games of the local football team,
  • Excursion to the Bloedel Floral Conservatory: more than 100 exotic birds, koi carp and plants.

Students spend their free time together, strolling the streets of Vancouver, visiting local coffee shops, restaurants and attractions. The staff of the institution is excellent for new ideas of pastime, supporting trips to new places not included in the program.

Enrolment process

The admission process can be completed completely remotely. Candidates need to:

  • Fill out an application in an online format,
  • Provide the necessary documents,
  • Pay the registration fee,
  • Wait for an official invitation to study, with the help of which you can get a long-term visa,
  • Make a deposit of 50% on the course to reserve a place,
  • Get the latest instructions from the admissions office and arrive on campus.

Students pass small entrance tests, which include a test of English proficiency. The admissions committee determines the level of linguistics in order to accurately determine the student for a suitable course.

Perspectives

At the end of the course, students are awarded certificates containing information about the number of academic hours of learning English, the knowledge gained and progress. They can be used when obtaining a long-term visa, entering a university, or at the beginning of a career.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

The school in Vancouver is engaged in teaching adult students, so for almost all courses, the first entry requirement is the age of 16 years. Platinum Courses accept students who have reached the age of 21.

Applicants must provide personal documents: passport, visa or residence permit, medical insurance. Some programs require applicants to have a certain level of knowledge of English - from A2.
