Active English

Quick overview: A medium-intensive English course for those who wish to improve their language for communication.

About the educational course: The program is designed for 15 hours of English per week. In the classroom, the emphasis is on the development of spoken language. Vocabulary and grammar international students learn directly in the process of communication in a language environment.

Students age: from 10 to 17.

Duration of the educational program: from 1 to 5 weeks.

Admission requirements: Beginner level of English.

English + Film

This course combines English language learning with activities that immerse students in the world of the film industry. The weekly schedule of pupils will include:

  • 15 hours of language lessons, in which students develop writing, reading, speaking and listening skills in a playful, interactive format,
  • 6 hours of interactive filmography workshops from qualified specialists, during which children will learn the basics of acting, the ability to express emotions with the body and facial expressions,
  • Three excursions with visits to the sights of Los Angeles, Warner Brothers and Paramount studios, relaxation on the coast,
  • Entertainment, sports and creative activities on campus almost every evening.

With the support of experienced teachers, students effectively acquire language and specialized knowledge, broaden their horizons and gain international educational experience, thanks to which they become competitive applicants to English-speaking schools, colleges and universities.

English + Surfing

Thanks to studying on the campus of Pepperdine University, located on the Pacific coast, students have the opportunity not only to effectively improve their English proficiency, but also to try their hand at surfing. Students are provided with a balanced schedule with a weekly 15 hours of English lessons, 6 hours of surf training under the guidance of qualified professionals.

English lessons are held in groups gathered according to the same level of initial knowledge. In the amount of no more than 15 people, students improve their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, replenish their vocabulary and knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. Speaking practice plays a major role in learning – every day, students interact with each other, teachers and locals during field trips, campus events and in residence, thanks to which they become more confident in using language knowledge.

Surfing lessons are also offered in groups gathered according to the level of ability. Certified athlete educators conduct master classes, seminars on safety and the necessary skills to achieve success. Each week, there is a three-hour trip to the beach, during which students work on coordination, learn board technique and important aspects of behavior in the water.

Upon completion of the course, students will have an improved level of English, progress in surfing and experience of international education, as well as unforgettable emotions from spending summer holidays on the Pacific coast.

Description of Kings College - Malibu Residential Summer Center

Kings College - Malibu Residential Summer Center is based at the University of Pepperdine. The camp has all conditions for comfortable, safe stay and effective studying for international students. The summer camp is located in one of most picturesque places in California. From the windows of the Malibu Kings College opens a magnificent view over Pacific Ocean. Not far from the camp there is famous Los Angeles beach area. Also, from the language center it will not be difficult to get to important sights of Santa Monica, picturesque Beverly Hills and legendary Hollywood.

What opportunities are there for cultural immersion and interaction with native speakers?

We organize cultural excursions, host native speaker events, and encourage campers to engage with locals during supervised outings. These experiences enhance language learning and cultural understanding.

Accommodation, meals, prices

In the camp, students are accommodated in a residence on campus. They live in 2-bed rooms. Facilities are situated in the main building. Meals are provided on the full board basis. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the student's room. On excursion days there is packed lunch.

Activities Kings College - Malibu Residential Summer Center

A rich extracurricular program includes sports, recreational activities. Students are offered volleyball, paintball, American football, baseball, swimming, mini Olympic games. Also, students can attend dance clubs, music, arts and crafts. Entertainment section of the program includes shows, parties, karaoke, discos, music, theatrical evenings. Excursions for students are organized for the whole day (at Disneyland, Santa Monica, Hollywood Walk, Universal Studios, etc.), for half a day (to the museums of the nearest cities, Griffith Park, to the Dodgers Stadium, to shopping malls, Beverly Hills).

Enrolment process

Future pupils fill out a detailed online form, provide documents and pay the registration fee, after which they will meet the staff of the center, pass a language test and be divided into groups. To book a place on the course, you will need to make a deposit, and then arrive on campus and start classes.

New students are admitted once a week as part of the course, but only if there are vacancies.

Perspectives

Upon completion of the training, each student receives a graduation certificate, which indicates the progress in English proficiency, the number of academic classes attended, and a personalized report from the teacher. Thanks to the knowledge and skills gained, they can continue their educational path in other English-speaking institutions.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Applicants must meet the age criteria for admission to the chosen course, have a passport, health insurance, visa, or permanent residence to stay in the United States. A certificate of English proficiency is not required, as each candidate undergoes an entrance test upon admission.
