St Mary's College Crosby is known for working to develop children as holistic individuals. The goal of the staff is to create a favorable environment for the discovery of talents and potential of each student. Here children and adolescents can express themselves in different spheres: intellectual, cultural, physical.
Teachers teach their wards not only to memorize topics in subjects and prepare for exams - they cultivate in them a love for learning as a process as a whole. They lay a base of knowledge and skills that will be useful both within the walls of school and outside it in later life.
The secondary school program is quite rigorous, at the same time multifaceted and balanced, covering the entire range of humanities and natural sciences. For the first 3 years, students master 14 disciplines, including science, classics, Latin and foreign languages; After that, the staff conducts a detailed consultation with teenagers and their parents so that the next stage of training is as effective as possible and takes into account the goals of future high school students. From this moment, a two-year study at GCSE level begins, where teenagers choose at least 10 disciplines for in-depth study: this list must necessarily include English, English literature, mathematics, religious studies and natural sciences.
Special attention is paid to the cultural and entertainment life of students: for example, in their free time, teenagers can learn to play musical instruments, sign up for a drama club or dance, sports training and team games are available to them.
Sixth Form
- The age of students is from 16 to 18 years old.
The classrooms are small, so each teenager receives personal attention and support from teachers. Future graduates are provided with a wide range of disciplines to choose from for in-depth study in the A-level format. Each lesson is taught by subject teachers who are highly qualified in their profile.
All high school students have access to amenities on campus such as:
- modern and multifunctional common room,
- cafeteria
- separate study areas,
- Wi-Fi throughout.
St Mary's College Crosby leadership encourages teens if they want to take on leadership roles, such as as guardians of elementary school students or prefects.
More than 98% of graduates annually choose additional modules related to future admission to universities: there they prepare for entrance exams, learn how to fill out applications, and write motivation letters. After such training, almost all high school students receive places at the universities that were their priority - these universities include the most prestigious institutions in the world, members of the Russell Group and the Ivy League.
