South Korea reaches target of 300,000 international students

South Korea has confidently entered the top world leaders in terms of the number of foreign students, for the first time it reached the mark of 300,000 students in the summer of this year. This happened almost two years ahead of schedule due to the successful implementation of the government's Study Korea 300K project.

The main secret of Korea's success is a targeted state campaign to attract foreign students. To do this, the government simplified the rules for issuing visas to foreign students, increased the number of hours for work during studies, and extended the period of stay of graduates in the country after completing courses. Now, foreign students can stay in Korea for a long time to find a job and gain a foothold professionally. An important role was played by the development of educational programs in English, and the active promotion of Korean culture among young people around the world, including famous trends like K-pop and K-beauty.

Almost a third of all international students are citizens of Vietnam, followed by the Chinese, including residents of Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Nepal. Most of the visitors choose university programs, the rest attend Korean language courses.

Despite slight fluctuations in demand over the past two years, experts are confident that South Korea will continue to hold a leading position among Asian higher education centers due to its advantages: affordable prices, a high level of safety and cultural attractiveness. This case is a clear example of how a well-thought-out state policy can make a country attractive to international youth.
