International Baccalaureate: Primary Years Programme

  • The studying period is six years.

The Primary School program covers grades 1 through 6, offering an extensive curriculum, a wide range of extracurricular activities, and a friendly environment for self-development. The experience gained in primary school lays the foundation for future learning, so studying is based on the cognitive, social, emotional and physical development of children.

The study of subjects takes place on the basis of important questions: "Who are we", "How do we express ourselves", "How does the world work", "Where are we in place and time", "How do we organize ourselves" and others. Questions allow students to explore subjects in an applied form, gain life skills, see interdisciplinarity and the applicability of knowledge in life. The curriculum includes such disciplines as mathematics, English (with the opportunity to additionally study the Arabic language and Islamic culture), natural sciences, art, physical education and others. Teachers educate in small classes, paying individual attention to each student. SEK International School Riyadh is an international school located in Saudi Arabia. The International Baccalaureate (IB) programs at the preschool and primary school levels are studying here for children aged 3 to 12 years.

Despite the fact that SEK International School Riyadh has opened quite recently, the school is actively developing and awards national, international accreditations. To date, SEK International School Riyadh is accredited to teach preschool and IB PYP programs, and the first admission of students to the middle classes of the IB MYP is expected in the near future.

The multinational student community creates a friendly, diverse atmosphere on campus, thanks to which all children feel comfortable, adapt faster to a new academic environment, make friends with different cultural customs, knowledge of languages. The educational process can be organized in one of three formats: full-time, combined or completely remote - this is how SEK International School Riyadh responds to external factors taking place in the country, as well as the conditions established by the Saudi authorities. The school teaches children from 3 to 12 years old in the IB PYP preschool and primary school programs. To date, SEK International School Riyadh is a candidate institution for accreditation of subsequent International Baccalaureate programs - after obtaining official permission to teach programs for middle and high school, the IB MYP and IBDP will open at the school.

Students can choose from two daily lunch options:

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year consists of three trimesters:

  • Autumn: August-December,
  • Winter: January-March,
  • Spring: April-June.

Holidays are organized between trimesters, rest is also provided on weekends, days of national and international holidays. Classes are held on weekdays in the first half of them, after the end of lessons there are events, activities in sections and clubs.

Enrolment statistics

Admission of new students is limited to a small number of vacant places in classes. Applicants who have applied and are not included in the list of enrollees remain on the waiting list.

Foreign applicants must provide:
