Pre-School, Early Childhood Education

  • Age of students  from three years old,
  • The duration of study is up to four years.

Scarborough College's Early Childhood program combines all the benefits of regular kindergarten with a playful learning method that gives children the necessary knowledge and skills about the environment.

The basis of the curriculum is daily creativity, interaction with adults and classmates, and various materials. In a family atmosphere, the dedicated staff will make sure that every child enjoys being in the group, receives only positive emotions. Thanks to the 1:8 staff-to-child ratio, students receive individual attention, care and support, and adapt to the school environment faster.

Lessons take place in small classrooms, in open safe spaces, in specialized music, dance, physical education, and language studios: this is how children learn about the variety of academic subjects that await them in the future, immerse themselves in creativity and develop physical activity. The teaching load in kindergarten has a flexible daily routine, allowing students to devote time to something they are interested in at any time, go for a walk or just sit alone.

The preschool department offers families several formats for visiting campus — several days a week or throughout the week:

Accommodation, meals, prices

College residences are a combination of traditional values and modern life. The four boarding houses are located in a quiet residential area of Filey Road, close to the city center, a stone's throw from the campus.: They are historic buildings built during the Georgian and Victorian periods.

The students are looked after by dedicated boarding school staff and academic mentors: they live in the same houses, monitor the safety and well-being of the students, and organize entertainment programs.

Several residential buildings have undergone extensive repairs in recent years, and minor renovation work continues at Willersley. The college community is proud of the residences: they are stunning, cozy, and more like a home than a boarding house.

  • Bankory House is a boarding house for high school students. The estate is located opposite the playgrounds on the south side of the college, consists of 32 single rooms with private bathrooms, there are three small living rooms, each with its own kitchen, direct access to the playing fields. Other sports facilities, such as an athletics track and a sports hall, are within a five-minute walk.
  • Crews House is a boarding school for boys aged 11-16. This is a small house that accommodates up to 20 students in grades 7-11. There is a large common hall, a kitchen, a staff room downstairs, and bedrooms for several students. The residence offers a beautiful view of the sports complex, playing fields, the castle and the South Bay of Scarborough. It is only a five-minute walk from the college and the beach, which makes life here a real pleasure.
  • Willersley House is a three—storey boarding house for 33 girls, which has rooms of various shapes and sizes that give the residence an unusual homely atmosphere. On the ground floor there is a warm and comfortable living room, a kitchen, the building has its own library, several play areas, rooms of decorative and applied arts, a piano. The bedrooms are divided into three floors, they are a set of single, double and triple rooms: all have a desk, a wardrobe, a locker for each girl.
  • Weaponness House is a newly renovated boarding house to the highest standards that accommodates up to 61 Sixth Form students. The building itself is a beautiful, majestic Victorian-style building set amidst large gardens on Filey Road, just a few minutes' walk from the school itself. Students live in shared rooms with facilities on the floor, many boarders are accommodated in single rooms with a private bathroom.

Meals for Scarborough College students are provided by Holroyd Howe Catering service, which specializes in providing freshly prepared meals exclusively to private schools and colleges. The dishes are tailored to the local culture and the individual needs of most students. The best ingredients of British origin are used in the preparation: the organization has partnerships with a number of farmers, producers and suppliers of fresh vegetables, meat, fruits and other components of proper nutrition.

Review about Scarborough College

Anna
(04.11.2021)
We took up the issue of choosing a school for a child when our daughter was in the 8th grade. Unfortunately, we did not have an unlimited budget and initially considered the school within 30k. My daughter was more inclined towards England, but we didn't think we could afford this option. For familiarization, we decided to visit the exhibition of foreign education in Moscow. The consultant of the organizing company, having listened to our wishes, recommended that we consider options in Spain and England. To be honest, we thought that studying in England would cost more, so we were very inspired that we could consider England). As a result, they decided to stop at the UK. We chose between Fyling Hall and Scarborough. We chose Scarborough, since it was still more convenient to get to school, we also really liked the living conditions and the national composition of the students. Now the child is in the first year of A-level. So far, we like everything. We will supplement the review as we progress at school)
Senka M.
(review of studying at Scarborough College (IB Diploma Course))

In the fall of 2019, I enrolled at Scarborough College for the IB Diploma program – Manager Lyubov helped me with the process. Having studied for almost a year, I can say for sure that I do not regret my choice! The school is quite small, everyone knows each other, you feel at home.

The city itself, located on the North Sea coast, boasts picturesque landscapes! It's great to run or just walk. The Boarding community deserves special attention. The Weaponness House I live in is brand new! The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Girls and boys live together in different corridors, for joint pastime there is a common room on the ground floor with a kitchen, TV, table football and billiards. In terms of training, of course, due to the coronavirus, there were no problems: it was not easy to study online and, unfortunately, the quality of education was on the conscience of each individual teacher - who did better, someone worse. Of the school's strong subjects, I would note biology (Mr Fraser), economics/business (Mrs Barnes), English literature and language (Ms Grice), psychology/business (Mr Wilson). In addition to school, every Wednesday the last 2 periods are given for sports games - a very good opportunity to try something new: volleyball, football, basketball, cricket, tennis, badminton or ping pong. Now that restrictions due to the coronavirus are being gradually lifted, the school has informed us about the organization of a ski trip in the winter of the next school year. In addition, now every weekend there are different small trips: we were taken to the water park, play paintball, on excursions to the local castle. For all my love for school, if I had the opportunity to change something, I would revise the menu, the quality of the food is often complaints. Otherwise, I am very happy to study at Scarborough College, it was enough just to find friends - both staff and other students are always ready to support and help!

(19.01.2021)
My son has been studying at this school since September 2020. Initially, we chose a small school where there would be few Russian-speaking children. On the recommendation of the agent, Smapse decided to consider Scarborough College. At first, I was a little confused by the location of the college, since it takes a little more than 3 hours to get from the capital. But, as it turned out, this did not cause any particular difficulties, you can always take a transfer from the school, and the child will be met at the airport. As for the college, there are really few Russian speakers. The college mainly trains Spanish-speaking students and schoolchildren from Germany. My son was settled with the Germans, so far he is happy with everything, there is no misunderstanding. We would also like to note the work of the curator from Smaps: Elena promptly resolves our issues, for which we are especially grateful to her)
Albina Romanova
(15.11.2019)
We learned about the school at the Smaps exhibition in February 2019. The child, at that time, was in the 8th grade. We planned to enter after 9. We considered only England (York, Manchester and this region, my husband goes there several times a year for work). Initially, we considered another option near York, but the cost there was much higher, so we decided to come to the exhibition to see for ourselves the alternatives. Scarborough interested me primarily because they do not have many foreign students, small classes, while graduates enter well-known universities, which, of course, is a plus. We looked at real reviews of students on other services, admission statistics. We turned to the company with a request to organize a virtual tour of the school. I liked that the school responds very quickly to questions: a detailed tour was organized for us, in which the school principal participated. After the tour, the director personally talked to us and the child and was very endearing).
