Aysgarth School works as an independent private school, teaching preparatory and primary classes for pupils of 8-13 years old. Preparatory programs for pupils of 3-8 years are conducted according to a mixed scheme (girls are accepted in classes), only boys are accepted to junior classes and boarding school. The total number of students today reaches 200 people.
The school was founded as far back as 1877 and was originally intended for pre-school boys to enable them to later learn in the best boarding schools in the UK and the world. Today, Eigars School is deservedly considered one of the strongest preparatory schools in the north of England.
