Educational process

The educational process in the RSHRE is organized according to the schedule of the educational process, on the basis of the order of higher management. The schedule of education sessions is drawn up for the course and is available in the personal account of the student.

Over the past ten years, students and staff of MGRI have performed a huge number of research works of a fundamental and applied nature. Most of the work performed was carried out on the terms of contractual work by order of domestic and foreign enterprises of the mineral resources sector, including departmental organizations.

Things to know about

Employees and graduates of MGRI discovered about 250 new minerals and more than 50 large mineral deposits. About 22 minerals, geographical and geological objects, about 280 species of fossil flora and fauna are named after graduates of the university.

Since October 2019, the MGRI SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers, an international non-profit professional organization of technical specialists in the oil and gas industry) has been operating on the basis of MGRI.

Since 2017, on the basis of the Artek International Children's Center, together with MGRI, a unique career guidance project GeoArtek has been implemented for children from 10 to 17 years old.

Accommodation, meals, prices

For enrolled nonresident and foreign students, a hostel is provided on the territory of the university. The total number of beds is 1391, the system of accommodation is blocky. Each block includes two comfortable living rooms (for 2-3 people), a bathroom and a toilet, and a shared kitchen is located separately on each floor.

On the territory of the RSGRU there is a university canteen for 200 seats, in addition there are cafes and buffets.

The Joint Council of Students (OSO) of MGRI operates at the university: it includes representatives of the student society. The main task of the CCA is to consolidate the active youth of the university, to ensure the leisure of students, the implementation and protection of their rights.

In addition, student media and radio conduct their work on the basis of the university.

RSGRU owns 3 main buildings: two academic buildings and 1 building of the university dormitory.

Classrooms of the university are equipped with modern multimedia technologies: computers or laptops, projectors, electronic boards.

Also on the territory of the RSGRU there is a sports hall, a library, a dining room, buffets and a cafe.

Admission dates and extra charges

The educational process at RSHRE is based on the semester system. One academic year is divided into 2 semesters, each about 4-5 months. At the end of each semester, an examination session of 20-25 days is organized.

The cost of living in the dormitory of the university:

  • 835 rubles per month (orphans and children left without parental care, disabled people of I and II groups, disabled since childhood);
  • 1300 rub./month (full-time students on a budget);
  • 6665 rub./month (full-time students on a contract/target).

Other expenses include meals, leisure, transportation (if the student does not live on campus).

Enrolment process

The deadline for submitting documents for the first year of the full-time department is from June 20 to July 25 inclusive. When passing internal tests, the applicant must submit documents no later than July 11.

Today, more than 4,000 students study at RSGRU. The most popular areas of study are:

  • "Ecology and Nature Management" (in 2022, 71 people were admitted),
  • "Applied Geology" (in 2022, 218 people were admitted, of which 187 were on the budget).

Upon graduation, MGRI graduates get a job in advanced organizations not only of The Russian, but also of the international level. The practice of students is carried out at production facilities in the Republic of Crimea and Stary Oskol.

The university's partners are such large organizations as PJSC Lukoil, Metalloinvest, Rosgeologiya, Bashneft, the Russian Federal Geological Fund, Mosvodokanal and others.

  • Completed secondary general (11 grades) or secondary vocational education;
  • High personal and business qualities;
  • Successful completion of entrance examinations or unified state exams (including for foreigners);
  • High motivation in solving complex practical problems;
  • Documents confirming the availability of sports achievements, conducting scientific activities and participating in Olympiads will be an additional bonus upon admission.

Entrance tests conducted by the RSHRU independently are held in writing in Russian language.

MgRI provides material support to students in the form of scholarships. The state academic scholarship is from 3500 rubles per month for stateless persons or foreign citizens. For persons with Russian citizenship who do not have debts based on the results of intermediate certification, the scholarship is from 5500 rubles per month.

The state social scholarship is from 3600 rubles per month.
