The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School was founded by Presbyterians in the Imperial state of southern America in 1903, and in 1927 merged with the Nacoochee Institute, which resulted in a program where the institute's comprehensive theoretical knowledge combined with the empirical knowledge of the industrial school.
