Description of Northern Lights College

Northern Lights College (NLC) was founded in 1975 and is the center of excellence for British Columbia in three key areas: oil and gas, clean energy technology and the aerospace industry.

NLC is a part of BC Colleges' provincial group of 11 colleges from all over British Columbia. This association has a unique regional advantage and a long history of cooperation with industrial companies, employers, communities and politicians, which allows British Columbia colleges to produce highly skilled workers who are ready to build healthy communities and support the economy in all regions of the province.

Accommodation, meals, prices

NLC provides residency on two campuses: Dawson Creek and Fort St. John.

The cost of living is:

  • Long-term (2 months or more) = 520 $ CAD-1105 $ CAD / month
  • Short-term (20 nights or less) = $ 40 CAD / night or $ 240 CAD / week + PST (8%) and GST (5%)
  • Security deposit = $ 200 CAD.

Activities Northern Lights College

  • The NLC Student Association is developing an athletics and leisure program for students in partnership with Engage Sport North
  • In 2018, a competition rodeo program was launched at the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association
  • The college holds community fundraising events, such as Relay for Life.

Some college programs last 20 weeks:

Recommendations on when to apply
