The US News & World Report included it in the top national universities for academic and scientific indicators. Founded in 1888, the State University of New Mexico is a Latin American educational institution that is administered by the United States Department of Education. NMSU Housing & Residential Life offers convenient, affordable options that focus on tenants with different needs, financial capabilities, and requirements for amenities. All options involve social interaction and academic support.

Types of accommodation:

  • Furnished apartments with living rooms, fully equipped kitchens and separate bedrooms.

New Mexico State University provides educatio in four colleges - Alamogordo, Carlsbad, Doña Ana Community College, Grants, which offer programs of academic, vocational, technical, continuing education. The Astronomical Faculty of NMSU operates the Apache Point Observatory for the Astrophysical Research Corporation (ARC) - a partnership that includes the NMSU, the University of Washington, the University of Chicago, the Institute for Advanced Study, Johns Hopkins University, Princeton University and the University of Colorado at Boulder. The Apache Point Observatory is located in the mountains of Sacramento in the south of New Mexico - here are four astronomical telescopes.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Applicants for a bachelor’s degree provide documents confirming the completion of secondary school, or documents from a university if a student has completed several courses of a foreign university.

Requirement to know English for admission:

  • TOEFL - 550-520, 79-68 IBT,
  • IELTS - 6-6,5.

The official report of these results should come directly from the testing company. Tests must be completed no earlier than 2 years before the application is submitted.

A foreign student entering the magistracy must have at least a four-year bachelor's degree or its equivalent to demonstrate knowledge of the English language both in written and oral form by submitting an official TOEFL or IELTS report.

Scholarships New Mexico State University

There are a limited number of scholarships and options for reducing tuition fees available to new international students (both graduates and students). The state of New Mexico sets the number of NMSU scholarships to 6% of the total number of local, foreign students annually. Of this total, the university allocates 10% to foreign students.

Award criteria - high GPA, TOEFL, IELTS score. Competition for awarding scholarships is high.

Many foreign undergraduates receive rewards for teaching or scientific assistance, which go to cover the tuition fee in addition to paying a monthly stipend.
