National Research Nuclear University (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) - NRNU MEPhI

The National Research Nuclear University (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) of the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” is a non-profit public Russian university. The foundation year of the MEPhI educational institution, on the basis of which the university was established, is 1942, and in 2008 the institute was renamed the National Nuclear Research University. The university is located in the capital of the Russian Federation - in Moscow.

Over seven thousand students study at the university. 1223 teachers comprise the academic staff of the university. 9% of students are representatives of other states. In accordance with the national ranking, the university is ranked tenth, in the international ranking it is in 580 positions.

• NRNU "MEPhI" refers to the leading universities of the country.
• Its graduates receive prestigious work in state institutions, including the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Academy of Sciences and RosAtom.

• A real nuclear reactor is located at NRIA. This allows students to conduct experiments and study the behavior of radioactive particles in different conditions.
• Each year, the university holds a youth competition as part of the Intel program. For the first time such an event was held in 1997.
• At various times, six Nobel laureates, as well as 50 scientists (including twenty-nine members of the Russian Academy of Sciences), as well as three cosmonauts were educated at the school.

Research activities

NRNU (MEPhI) has always been distinguished by high-quality research activities of its students, researchers and faculty. Among their achievements are not only research, but also sensational discoveries:

• Identification of particles previously unknown to science and constituting dark matter. This discovery is the result of collaboration with Italian scientists.
• Development of the device "Lily of the Valley" for painless endoscopy.
• The most important research in the field of nanotechnology in 2009 (according to the Russian Academy of Sciences), carried out by NRNU scientists in the field of characteristics of diffusion processes in nanocrystalline materials.
• Improvements in nuclear fuel pills.
• Creating a neutroabsorbent material that can be used in the construction of nuclear reactors.

At the disposal of students there is a library, a developed sports infrastructure, apartment-type dormitories, restaurants and cafes. For sports at the university all conditions are created: there are stadiums, sports halls, fitness centers. There are also clubs for various sports (gymnastics, rugby, sambo, football and mountaineering).

Admission to the university is based on exams. The educational institution supports the policy of equality, without making restrictions on gender, religious, political principles.

For foreign applicants must submit the following documents:

• Application filled on the website of the university;
• A copy of the previous education document with a list of academic achievements;
• Medical certificates on the absence of HIV - infection, AIDS and contraindications for eduaction in the territory of the Russian Federation.
• Passport and photocopy with translation into Russian.
• Additional materials (certificates, diplomas, certificates of participation in competitions, competitions).

Foreign education must be officially recognized in the Russian Federation and have the appropriate evidence. In this case, all documents and copies must be supplied with a translation into Russian, certified by a notary. All students of the university receive a scholarship, which is calculated in accordance with academic and scientific achievements.
