Mirabal International School — a private international school in Boadilla del Monte, west of Madrid. It opened on September 16, 1982. It was founded by education professionals who sought to create a learning environment with strong academic preparation, in-depth language study, music, sports, and attention to the development of each student. In 1985, the school received official status as a music center.

Mirabal works with children from 6 months to 18 years old. It combines the Spanish state curriculum with bilingual education, Cambridge exam preparation, and international programs for middle and upper school. In upper school, students choose between the Spanish Bachillerato or the international diploma.

Mirabal is part of the Inspired Education network, so students can participate in international exchanges, summer programs, and group projects.

In the children's campus, Mirabal uses the Reggio Emilia method, early language immersion, music, swimming, psychomotor development, and hands-on activities. English starts from age 2, French and German — from age 3. Children work in age-appropriate zones and have access to a pool, music, and art classes.

Science and technology training is built on work in physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, research projects, and hands-on assignments. In upper grades, students complete a research monograph and participate in technology projects related to robotics, programming, 3D modeling, Arduino, Python, Raspberry Pi, and Internet of Things technologies.

Career guidance begins in secondary school. In 4th year of ESO, students participate in the Business Learning Project and spend three days at companies and organizations: Google, Rastreator, the research division of the National Hospital of Paraplegics in Toledo, Thales Group, Otis, Cadena COPE, Mediaset, Hotel Ritz, Línea Directa, EMC², Everis, Sacyr, McGraw Hill, Oracle, Francisco de Vitoria University.

Centro Autorizado de Música

Centro Autorizado de Música is the music program of the Mirabal school for children in grades 3 through 6 of Primaria. It is a four-year introductory music education course: children study music theory, practice a chosen instrument, and play in an ensemble. Upon completing the course, the child can receive the Certificado de Grado Elemental — an official certificate of elementary music level.

Studies begin in 3rd grade of Primaria — typically at around age 8. The program then progresses sequentially: each academic year corresponds to one level of Grado Elemental.

Mirabal is officially accredited to teach introductory music education across a range of instrumental disciplines: students can choose accordion, clarinet, double bass, transverse flute, guitar, piano, saxophone, viola, violin, or cello. Additionally, the school offers classes in electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and percussion instruments; however, these courses are not part of the official Grado Elemental program.

In 2025, students achieved high results in the International Baccalaureate program: the average score was 34.5 out of 45, and the maximum reached 44 points (with the maximum possible score being 45). 98% of graduates received a bilingual diploma. Based on the results of the Spanish PAU exam, the school reported a maximum result of 13.6 out of 14, with 29.4% of students scoring more than 12 points, and 49.4% — more than 11 points. The average result was 7.8 out of 10.

MIS is located in Boadilla del Monte, a residential suburb to the west of Madrid. The main campus is situated on Calle Monte Almenara, and the children's campus Ciudad Infantil Mirabal — on Calle Monte Romanillos, 500 m from the main site. The area is well suited for a family-oriented learning environment: residential neighborhoods, green spaces, and road connections to Madrid are all nearby.

The school operates as a day school, so families arrange their own accommodation in Madrid or the surrounding suburbs. School bus routes from Madrid and the surrounding area are organized for students.

Meals are provided on-site: Mirabal uses its own kitchen and places an emphasis on fresh produce and locally sourced ingredients. The children's campus has three separate dining halls divided by age group. Lunch and an afternoon snack are provided for preschoolers, and children are accompanied by teachers, assistants, medical professionals, and nutritionists during mealtimes. Meals are billed separately from the main tuition fee.

After school, students can attend extracurricular programs in music, foreign languages, technology, dance, and various sports. Clubs and sections take place on weekdays, usually from 17:00 to 18:30, while tournaments and matches are held on Saturdays.

The creative track combines music, ensemble practice, contemporary dance, classical ballet, flamenco, and hip-hop. Within the music program, students learn to play instruments, participate in ensembles, and can study under an official music center program.

The language program includes Chinese language studies and preparation for Confucius Institute exams. In the technology track, students progress from the basics of visual programming and educational robotics to working with Arduino, Python, Raspberry Pi, Roblox Studio, Lua, JavaScript, databases, and Internet of Things technologies.

Mirabal's sports track covers karate, swimming, triathlon, duathlon, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and football. In partnership with the football school CD Nuevo Boadilla, the school organizes training sessions and classes on its own sports grounds. Senior students have access to certification programs in first aid, water rescue, swimming, diving, and karate. Students studying classical dance can prepare for Royal Academy of Dance examinations.

• Education at Mirabal is structured as a continuous path from early childhood to the end of school: children can study here from 6 months and stay until the age of 18, moving between all levels within a single system.

Mirabal occupies two campuses in Boadilla del Monte: the main campus serves primary, secondary, and high school students, while the children's campus Ciudad Infantil Mirabal works with children from 6 months to 6 years old.

The main campus is equipped with physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories, technical drawing and fine arts classrooms, technology and computer labs, multimedia rooms, a library, and a cafeteria. A specialized workshop of 90 m² with robotics equipment is used for technology and engineering projects. There are also dedicated spaces for music, art, and creative projects.

The music department has 14 specialized rooms where instrument lessons, music theory, and ensemble practice take place.

For sports, the campus has an indoor gymnasium, a heated semi-Olympic swimming pool, 9 basketball courts, 7×7 and 11×11 football fields with artificial turf and lighting, a 6-lane athletics track with a jumping sector, 2 volleyball courts, 3 tennis courts, a karate hall, a dance studio, and a gymnastics hall.

The children's campus Ciudad Infantil has received an award from the Madrid community for its architectural and spatial design: it features a sensory room, open-air and indoor amphitheaters, three psychomotor development halls, a heated swimming pool, music and art classrooms, a football field with artificial turf, and five playgrounds divided by age group.

The schedule varies depending on the level: kindergarten, primary school, middle and upper levels operate on their own schedules, which are published annually.

Tuition at Mirabal is paid in stages throughout the academic year. For the preschool department, primary and middle school, and the first year of Bachillerato, 10 payments are provided; for the second year of Bachillerato — 9 payments. If desired, the family may pay the full amount in a single payment.

First, the family gets acquainted with the programs and campus. Then the child goes through the admission stage: a level assessment, an English test, and an individual interview (the format depends on the age and chosen level). After reviewing the results, Mirabal communicates the enrollment decision.

Upon confirmation of a place, parents sign documents, pay registration fees, and connect additional services: school transport, meals, uniform, extracurricular activities, and trips.

Transfer during the academic year is possible if there are available spots at the chosen level.

Mirabal prepares graduates for admission to universities in Spain, the United Kingdom, the USA, and continental European countries. Mirabal graduates enter Russell Group and Ivy League universities, as well as leading Spanish universities, including Universidad Carlos III, Polytechnic University of Madrid, London School of Economics, Catholic University of Leuven, and the Conservatory of The Hague.

To enroll in Mirabal, the family must provide the student's documents, complete an interview, and undergo an assessment of their preparation level. The school considers academic results, English language level, and the child's readiness to study in an international environment; for the children's campus, requirements are limited to completing documentation and getting acquainted with the school.

To enroll in the diploma program, the student must meet the following requirements:

• successful completion of Year 4 of ESO,
• average grade of at least 7,
• interview with the program coordinator,
• completed Personal Project for students of the middle years program,
• positive decision from the teaching team.

Mirabal provides academic scholarships for middle and high school students: they are awarded to students with the highest results at the end of the previous academic year. For years 1–3 of ESO, the tuition discount is 20%; for year 4 of ESO and Bachillerato programs — 30%.

Separately, the Nsouli Scholarship Programme of the Inspired Education network is available: the program is named after Nadim Nsouli, the founder of Inspired, and is designed for 50 students who can receive a full scholarship to study at schools within the Inspired group.

The school also offers family discounts: for a third child simultaneously enrolled at Mirabal, a 25% tuition discount applies; for the fourth child and subsequent children — 75%. Discounts apply only to tuition fees and do not apply to the enrollment reservation fee. A 25% discount on meals is available for the third child.
