This course is conducted during the winter months and is aimed at independent teens who want to improve their language skills and usefully rest, participating in a variety of cultural and social events. The program of the course includes accommodation in a host family with full meals.

A course for young people at LSI London Hampstead is a summer / winter English course in the UK that takes place at our language center in Hampstead, a green and picturesque residential suburb in north London, which is just 15 minutes by metro to the city center. Our English course for children and teenagers aged 13-17 includes English language studying and summer camp activities that will help young students to improve their English skills and have a great time in England, to meet new friends and explore all London sights. The center also offers English language programs for adults, so younger students who come with their parents or older siblings will be able to take part in activities in the summer language camp while the older family members are in class in the same building as part of our family program.

Main features of the program are:

  • 20 lessons of 50 minutes a week (16.7 hours);
  • The maximum group of 16 people;
  • Levels from elementary to advanced;
  • International composition;
  • Organized daytime leisure and Saturday excursions;
  • Accommodation in a double room with full board in the host family;

If there are no double rooms available, single rooms will be offered for the same price.

General English is a standard English language course that covers all language skills: reading, speaking, writing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and listening.

Program Options:

  1. Afternoon 10. The course is designed for those who want to improve their pronunciation, expand their vocabulary and speak more fluently. During training, the emphasis is on spoken English, which is used in everyday situations. In the lessons, students participate in a thematic discussion. Possible topics for discussion:

The intensive course will allow you to focus on the study of all areas necessary to achieve fluency in a short period of time. The program is perfect for those who want to study according to a rich curriculum, to deeply study culture and language. The timetable is similar to the General 20 curriculum: students study grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation daily (2 lessons per day), and then consolidate their knowledge in practice, mastering the skills of speaking, reading, writing and listening comprehension. In addition to lesson 5 and 6, students study selected elective courses - they are offered a wide list of subjects suitable for students with any level of knowledge and interests.

The training program is built on a modular method: every week students learn a new module. During this time, students will be able to learn one of the most important aspects of English as an international business language. The course focuses on the communication skill, the ability to reasonably negotiate, presentations and discussions. In the morning hours, program participants learn the basic language skills - reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension - and in the afternoon they study the modules:

Description of LSI London Hampstead Center

LSI London Hampstead Center is a famous and prestigious language center in the picturesque Hampstead district. The latter is among most recommended for sightseeing in London. The area is full of boutiques and restaurants. The largest London park is also located here. From the school it takes near 20 minutes walk to get to the city center.

Language Studies International (LSI) opened its first school in Kensington, London, in 1965. Its network now includes 14 schools in 7 countries and has taught hundreds of thousands of students.

LSI London Hampstead Center occupies a historic Victorian-era building. The school offers a wide range of English courses. Students can study conversational and academic English, prepare for IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, and Cambridge FCE, CAE, CPE, and BEC exams, and take Business English electives. LSI also offers ESL/EFL programs.

LSI has over 60 years of experience in language education and participates in national industry accreditation schemes.

In 2023, about 1.5 billion people spoke English as a first or second language. English is widely used in business, tourism, aviation, science, and media.

Accommodation, meals, prices

LSI offers homestays, student residences, self-catering apartments, and residence hotels. Homestay hosts are selected by LSI to provide a welcoming environment. Students receive daily meals and laundry service and can practice the language every day.

Student residences offer single or twin rooms, most with private bathrooms, as well as shared spaces and laundry facilities. Residences are cleaned regularly and may host evening activities. In some junior residences, LSI staff live on site and provide 24-hour support.

In London, shared self-catering apartments accommodate 4 to 6 students, include equipped kitchens and modern living areas, and are centrally located. Residence hotels offer weekly housekeeping and optional kitchen facilities.

Courses at LSI London Hampstead Center include social and cultural activities. Students can choose walking tours, film screenings, museum and gallery visits, and trips to Cambridge, Oxford, and other British cities.

Weekend excursions

In addition to the weekly social program, LSI organizes weekend excursions. Options include day trips, overnight trips, and longer excursions lasting three to five days. The Edinburgh & York Tour lasts 3 days and 2 nights and includes Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace, and a guided walk through medieval York. The Edinburgh & Loch Ness Tour lasts 3 days and 2 nights and includes a guided bus tour of Edinburgh's historic sites and an optional visit to Loch Ness. The Liverpool & Manchester Tour lasts 2 days and 1 night and includes Anfield Road, Penny Lane, the Cavern Club, and an optional visit to Manchester United's stadium.

Traditional pubs in Hampstead

Hampstead has traditional pubs where students can sample wine, British ale, and classic British snacks. Many pubs have gardens for summer and fireplaces for winter.

Walking tour of Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, and Trafalgar Square

The tour starts at Westminster Abbey, the Gothic church where British monarchs are crowned and buried. Students then walk past Downing Street to Whitehall, where they can see the Royal Horse Guards parade. The tour ends at Trafalgar Square.

Shopping trip to Oxford Street and Regent Street

Students can shop on Oxford Street and Regent Street, relax in a West End pub, and attend a musical in London's theater district.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

General and Intensive courses are available for students aged 16 or older and suit all language levels. At beginner level, the minimum course length is 8 weeks.

Entry requirements vary by program:

  • Academic English requires an intermediate to advanced level and is available from age 16,
  • For Exam Preparation, an intermediate to upper-intermediate level is recommended, and the minimum age is 16,
  • Pathways requires at least an intermediate level. Students below this level may take a general language program until they are ready.

Pathways applicants must complete LSI's free online English test and submit a pre-study evaluation form.
