The academic year at Long Road Sixth Form College lasts from September to June and is divided into three trimesters, with holidays in between.

1. The fall term begins in September and lasts until the end of November: students study various subjects and work on their projects.
2. The spring trimester begins in January and ends in March: students study new subjects, continue to work on projects, and prepare for upcoming exams.
3. The summer trimester begins in April and lasts until June. At this time, students are actively preparing for the main exams and theses, deepening their knowledge and skills in the chosen subjects.

The admission process at Long Road Sixth Form College is quite simple and straightforward:

1. Application for admission. The candidate needs to fill out an online application, provide basic personal data, academic information, and mark the subjects of interest.
2. Verification of documents. After submitting the application, the admissions committee will check the documents:

• Birth certificate and/or passport to prove identity and date of birth,
• Certificate of Completion of Secondary Education or Certificate of Secondary Education (or equivalent) translated into English,
• Academic transcripts for the last two years of study, grades and exam results,
• Letters of recommendation from teachers,
• Certificate of successful completion of a language test (IELTS or TOEFL),

3. Video interview. After the documents are checked, the candidate will be invited to an interview (via video link) with one of the Long Road faculty, where you will be asked to talk about your educational goals, motivations, and interests in the field of study.
4. Notification of Decision. At the end of the video interview, the candidate will be informed of the final decision (within a few days). If the application is approved, the college will provide an acceptance letter, which will be required to obtain a visa.

TODAY there are just over 2600 students enrolled in Long Road Sixth Form College.

About 60% of Long Road graduates go on to higher education, while the rest immediately get a job or continue their education.

In 2020, OFSTED rated the college "Good" in all key categories.

To enrol in A-level courses, you must score 5 points in 5 subjects, including English and Mathematics (these subjects are considered core and are always required).

For general applied courses such as BTEC and OCR Cambridge Technicals, the requirements are slightly different, with a score of 5 in just 4 subjects, including English. It is important to note that the requirements may be a bit lenient compared to A-level, but applicants must still demonstrate their competence in their chosen subjects.

When choosing a course, students should take into account that some subjects may have higher requirements, which may imply the need for more points or higher grades.
