English language courses for foreign students (ESL - English as a second language)
The program of intensive language studying is intended for adult students who plan to study abroad on pre-diploma or diploma programs, but have not reached the required high level of English (including academic skills).
The preparatory program is suitable for any category of students. Usually the course lasts 1 semester (16 weeks): initial testing of the level of knowledge takes place before enrolling in any course of La Roche College.
- Age — from 23 years old,
- Duration of study — three years.
Two specializations are available at the university for obtaining a doctoral degree:
- Nursing,
- Nursing: anesthesiology.
The educational process is based on regular practical sessions and conducting individual research. The program will provide students with the opportunity to acquire professional skills of the highest quality, which will enable them to hold leadership positions and train other specialists.
Pathway Program
- Age — from 18 years old,
- Duration of study — one or two semesters.
The preparatory program is designed for international students who wish to obtain a bachelor's degree but do not have the necessary language and academic level. During 1-2 semesters, students will attend English language classes that will improve their reading, speaking, writing and listening skills, and attend academic skills seminars to help them adapt to an English-language learning environment. During their studies, students earn academic credits that will be credited towards their bachelor's degree.
Upon completion of the course, students proceed to bachelor's degree studies in English.
Summer Courses
- Age — from 17 years old,
- Duration of study — 6, 8 or 10 weeks.
During the summer months, a series of courses in various fields are held on the campus of La Roche University:
- A course for already enrolled students who want to reduce the duration of study in a higher education program or retake certain subjects,
- A program for foreign students aimed at their adaptation and smooth transition to the autumn semester,
- A program for international students who want to improve their English language proficiency in advance, before starting their main studies,
- A course for high school students who are planning to enter university next year and would like to adapt to the university environment in advance and gain additional knowledge in subjects they find interesting.
All programs offer three duration options: 6, 8, or 10 weeks of study. The course can be taken either fully in person or partially remotely, allowing international students to balance their schedules and gain more knowledge.
Description of La Roche College
Private Catholic College of mixed form of education La Roche College was founded in 1963 by the Sisters of Divine Providence, the main Christian precepts, traditions and postulates here are observed to this day. This does not mean that this is a strict, closed educational institution - today pupils from all over the world can get a high-quality and prestigious education: of any nationality and origin, race and social status, religion and nationality. The motto of the school is the phrase "Engaging Minds. Embracing the World ": which talks about the unique opportunities that students can get during studying and who will be most useful to them in life in the modern world and a multicultural community.
Today, the college is in the north of the lively Pittsburgh: the number of bachelor's programs exceeds 50 diverse areas in almost all areas of modern science and knowledge. In total, representatives of more than 18 US states and 35 world countries are studied here.
