Description of College Du Leman

  • Location: Geneva, Switzerland,
  • Year of foundation: 1960,
  • Number of students: about 1800,
  • Language of instruction: English, French or bilingual,
  • Type of studying: mixed.

Collège du Leman (CDL) is an academically strong international school for students from 2 to 18 years old, located in Geneva.

Founded in 1960 by two Swiss educators, CDL has developed and grown rapidly, aiming to create a competitive institution for international education. Today, the school is one of the leading schools in the Switzerland and the world, attracts dozens of foreign students of different ages and nationalities, and confidently ranks in national and international rankings. About 1,800 students study within its walls every year, each of whom is considered as a multifaceted personality. The goal of the academic process at CDL is not only high—quality academic preparation, but also the comprehensive development of all students. To achieve this goal, a diverse leisure program is being implemented, including dozens of sports, creativity and social activities.

Another advantage of the Collège du Leman is its international cooperation with leading educational organizations in various fields, including The Juilliard School, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and UNICEF: through partnerships, the school offers the development of creative, technical, and athletic skills at an almost professional level.

Educational process

Students are surrounded by support from subject teachers, mentors and career advisors, which helps them achieve excellent results both during the learning process and when passing final exams, entering the chosen university. Foreign students have access to additional English language courses (EAL) in parallel with their main program, allowing them to not waste time and effectively follow their goal — obtaining an internationally recognized and valuable diploma.

Faculties and colleges

At Collège du Leman, programs are available at all stages of school education:

  • Preschool  department,
  • Primary School — elementary school,
  • Middle School — middle grades,
  • High School.

During the summer months, short-term courses are organized for children and adolescents on campus.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The infrastructure of the Collège du Leman includes 10 small and cozy villas for 250 boys and girls from 10 to 18 years old. The buildings have mostly double rooms, which accommodate children of about the same age and similar interests, but usually of different nationalities, allowing students to get acquainted with other cultures and customs of foreign countries. The bedrooms are furnished for each guest and include a bathroom. Residents have common access to spacious living rooms with board games and TV, self-study classes, laundries, small kitchens for preparing drinks and snacks, and a courtyard for walking and outdoor recreation. Together with the students, staff members live in the buildings, who are available around the clock and ensure comfort, safety and schedule compliance.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the dining room, which are prepared according to national and international cuisine recipes. The menu includes vegetarian and vegan dishes, and can be adapted to your personal dietary requirements.

Subjects and sports

Activities College Du Leman

During the school year, numerous events are organized on the CDL campus — more than 100 areas of activity have been established to support students' extracurricular development.

Sports play an important role in realizing students' potential. Thanks to the diverse infrastructure of the campus, students can try their hand at sports such as rugby, athletics, badminton, judo, football and many others. Each section is led by a qualified coach who pays individual attention to the abilities of his pupils. In addition to daily training sessions, participants in sports activities have access to inter-school and regional competitions.

Collège du Leman offers an extensive performing arts program — rehearsals and lessons in musical instruments, acting, singing and dancing are held almost daily in specialized studios. In addition to the performing arts, students have access to visual arts clubs: painting, graphic design, illustration. Thanks to partnerships with The Juilliard School, students can take their interest in art to a new level by studying not only the basics but also delving into more complex topics of self-expression that they find interesting.

Social interaction is no less important for all-round development, so throughout the year all pupils participate in various charitable events: for example, the annual \"Gift Box\" campaign allows children to take care of those in need throughout Europe, and cooperation with UNICEF encourages students to think about global international problems and their possible solutions.

The rich program of events is added with regular trips around the region and abroad. On weekends, students go to explore the sights of Switzerland, spend winter weekends in the mountains and visit internationally renowned museums and art galleries. Optional but consistently popular trips include:

  • Adventure in Tanzania — two weeks of volunteer work in Arusha, getting acquainted with the culture of Zanzibar,

Good afternoon! Our expert has contacted you for consultation.

We first got to know the school in 2019 when we decided to send our daughter for a trial semester in Switzerland. We'd been thinking about international education for our child for a few years before that. The level of international schools in our home city frankly didn't satisfy us. But since our daughter was only 14 at the time, we were afraid to send her away alone for a long time. I want to thank the consultants at Smart Products and Services for recommending that we consider a short-term program — to send our child first for a trial 4 months. We chose Du Léman because of its location and the school's reputation. The agency also provided us with contacts of a former student's family from this school. We talked to them and realized that we definitely wanted to consider this option. Our child studied at the school from September to December 2019. Since this was her first such experience, we were worried that she would have difficulty adapting and learning to live independently. A plus was that our daughter almost immediately befriended a girl her age who was in her second year there. There was also a very friendly and helpful staff member, whom she could turn to for assistance. Our daughter was very happy with the trip. Her English level improved significantly, and she herself expressed a desire to continue studying at this school. We transferred her to full-time study at Du Léman in September 2021. Despite the pandemic, the agency helped us get a visa quite quickly and without any issues. There were also no problems with the arrival. She really enjoys studying there. She especially likes English and math. The school has a huge variety of clubs and sports — I think it would be hard to find something they don't have. The staff is quite flexible and always ready to help.

Hello! I am Alesya .. 1 year ago my daughter and I moved to Mauritius .. She went to college, but since she has white skin and does not speak French well, she has no friends at all. She is very smart, but she cries constantly because she is very lonely. I ask you for help, maybe the children of your school can write her a letter so that she understands that she is not alone in this world. Her name is Eva and she is 14 years old. Our address is Number 3, Avenue Baitka, Stanley, Rose-Hill Mauritius Zablotskaya Eva

We sent our children to camp at the Du Leman school for several years in a row. For the first time we went to the program in 2018, the children then were 8 and 12. Initially, we considered the possibility of a day camp so that we could pick up the children in the afternoon, since we ourselves were resting in Geneva at that time. First of all, I liked the location of the school - it is located next to Geneva Airport, it takes about 20 minutes to go. Huge territory, I liked that there is a separate program for younger children. The program itself and entertainment are very well planned. Lessons and excursions are age-appropriate. The kids loved it. We are waiting for the opening of the borders to find ourselves in this beautiful place again.

Our daughter Anna was in college for 3 years. There were extremely positive impressions of this beautiful educational institution. Excellent organization of study and accommodation of international students. Teachers are really professionals who love their work and can instill interest in the subject. In general, everything in school is quite harmonious and debugged. All issues are resolved quickly. It seems to me that this is one of the best establishments in Switzerland for foreigners.
