In 2018, the European Commission awarded Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 the HR Excellence in Research label. The university became the first institution of the University of Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to receive this label.

SELF classes take place in weekly blocks lasting 2.5 or 3 hours. The first semester usually starts in the second week of September, and the second — in mid-January.
