Description of INTO Oregon State University

  • Location: Corvallis, USA,
  • Language of instruction: English,
  • Type of studying: mixed.

INTO Oregon State University (INTO OSU) is a preparatory center for international students at one of the oldest universities in the United States. Bachelor's and master's degree programs and effective English language courses are taught here.

With more than 150 years of history, Oregon State University is currently one of the most sought-after universities in the country for international applicants. Since some of the candidates have never studied in English-language programs at all, they need introductory courses that will help them adapt to the new academic environment, "translate" their existing knowledge into the English-speaking educational system and improve their language proficiency. In order for foreign citizens to obtain a higher education degree, Oregon State University cooperates with the INTO Academic Center, a modern educational intermediary for foreigners that provides International Year One, Pre—Master's, and other preparatory qualifications.

The studying process is organized on one of the campuses of Oregon State University, located in Corvallis. International students can expect daily joint academic and extracurricular activities with students who have already been accepted into higher education programs in the USA, which will allow them to adapt faster, become imbued with the university culture of student life, and choose the most suitable option for further education. All classes of the preparatory courses are taught by qualified teachers, most often speaking several languages. Under the strict guidance of personal mentors, teachers and administrative staff, students will be able to overcome the language barrier and achieve excellent academic results for the transition to the bachelor's and master's degrees.

What advice do you have for potential applicants before applying to US universities?

Choose a university that really suits you - do not try to "adjust" yourself to a prestigious or ranked university. If you are not sure of your capabilities, do not dwell on the first top 10: believe me, many opportunities of less prestigious universities will be able to give you what you need to develop and become a specialist.

Educational process

Training takes place on the campus of the university under the guidance of professors, teachers and researchers. Students expect lectures, practice, participation in active extracurricular activities, life together with already enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. Throughout the educational process, each student is in an atmosphere of support from INTO staff, OSU staff, which allows him to achieve stable academic success.

Faculties and colleges

INTO OSU offers preparation for undergraduate, graduate, and academic English courses. Upon successful completion, students will be able to move on to study at the university, where 11 specialized colleges-faculties await them:

  • Veterinary medicine,
  • Science
  • Engineering
  • Forestry
  • Pharmacy
  • Liberal Arts,
  • Health
  • Business
  • Education
  • Earth, ocean, atmospheric sciences,
  • Agricultural Sciences.

Accommodation, meals, prices

INTO OSU students of most American preparatory courses are required to stay at the university residence for the first three semesters. The residential building offers students several types of rooms:

  • Single room with access to a shared bathroom,
  • Double room with a bathroom in the room or with access to a shared bathroom located on the floor,
  • A triple room with a bathroom shared by six residents.

All rooms are fully furnished, have heating and air conditioning, wired Internet connection and high-speed Wi-Fi network. When staying in one of the rooms, students also purchase a semester meal plan, which consists of a certain number of meals + additional points for purchases at OSU establishments. The meal plan is registered in all university cafeterias and dining halls, so that students can diversify their diet with various menus: from international and national cuisines to vegetarian, vegan, and dietary recipes.

Review about INTO Oregon State University

Cyrek
(INTO Oregon State University review)

I really enjoyed studying in America, it provides excellent education for everyone!

I note two bonuses at Oregon INTO:

  • Great opportunities to find a job.

Job fairs are arranged (mainly for senior students), you can sign up for an internship (and you will be helped to find a better place), well-known experts come and tell about the "inner kitchen" of various specialties and professions. We have special tutors who will tell you in detail how a CV is made in the USA, how to properly present your strengths, what advanced courses you can take to improve your CV (there are several options that are inexpensive and short - you can even pass them after the diploma, then to go to a good position with a higher payment).

All these lectures are very useful - they will be said for them by the fact that at such meetings there is really a lot of people. There are a lot of specialists with diplomas, and everybody wants to get a good job - you need to be able to stand out and appear to your employer to be the best.

  • A lot of my mates (classmates, roommates) get scholarships or grants, really 60-70 percent.

Studying in America is not cheap, but there are a million ways to save a lot. I was helped by Smart Products and Services manager with the documents!
