Description IED Como European Institute of Design

The world's largest private profile educational organization, IED, was founded in 1966: until now, its immediate president, Francesco Morelli, has been its president. IED campuses are located in Italy, Spain and Brazil, which gives students the opportunity to study in English, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese.

Today, the total number of students in the IED reaches 9,000 people - they are representatives of more than 80 nationalities and countries. There are four faculties in each institute:

The IED Como European Design Institute offers balanced and effective programs in all four areas. The Italian city of Como has long been known for its unique culture and architecture, as well as special subtleties in the production and processing of fabrics, particularly silk. Here is one of the best in Italy schools of professional restoration - Galli Academy (since 2009 is part of the IED Group). All programs are conducted in Italian. Duration is 3 academic years (excluding the specialty "Restoration of art objects" - it is designed for 5 years).

Master's degree in IED Como can be obtained in two ways:

Creativity and management in fashion business
Preservation of modern art.

Studying is conducted in English, the duration of the course is 1 academic year. Requirements for applicants are as follows:

TOEFL (from 500 points, option iBT from 68) / IELTS 5.5 and higher or its analogue
Personal portfolio (at least 10-15 works on the design with detailed description and the date of implementation of each)
Diploma of Higher Education (Bachelor's Degree)
Personal resume
Preferred work experience from 2 years in the chosen specialty (in some cases can replace the bachelor's degree)
Motivation letter.

Accommodation, housing and food

There are no residences for students at the institute: there is a special Accommodation Department in Como with students who helps to find optimal and comfortable accommodation in the city. Several hostels and city residences are located in the immediate vicinity of the campus and have long, fruitfully cooperated with the institute, providing the best rooms to students.

In residences, in addition to cozy, fully furnished and equipped rooms (usually for 2-3 people, there are common and individual bedrooms), there are common kitchens and living rooms for rest, Internet access is provided. In the accommodation department, you can also order a convenient type of food (usually students prefer breakfast or half board, breakfasts + dinners).

The requirements for applicants differ depending on the chosen program.

1) Basic programs (1 year):

TOEFL certificate (450 points) / IELTS 5.0 or its equivalent
Secondary education certificate.

2) Undergraduate:

TOEFL certificate (500 points) / IELTS 5.5 + 6.0 + Certificate of sufficient knowledge of language, which will be studied (Italian, from advanced)
Secondary education certificate
Motivation letter
It is advisable to provide a personal portfolio.

3) Master:

TOEFL (from 500 points, iBT version from 68) / IELTS 5.5 and above or its analogue
Personal portfolio (at least 10-15 works on design with detailed description and date

4) Summer programs:

Advanced level of English.

A package of documents from the entrants for the next year is accepted in the period from December 1 to August 31 (minimum 3 months before the expected start of classes). The package should include:

Completed application form strictly in the form of the school
Passport and its copy, 4 passport-size photographs
Medical certificate
A receipt for the prepayment of the educational course
Certificate of secondary education
Certificate of sufficient level of the English language + the language in which the studying will be conducted
Portfolio.

Additionally, applicants pass a telephone interview with a representative of the Institute, so that he can be convinced of the level of the language.

Please note that all basic documents (certificates, medical certificate) must be translated into Italian and notarized. In the diploma and the certificate should be a list of studied disciplines, the number of hours each.

A registration fee of € 2500 is compulsory.
