GLS Munich Castle Summer School is a summer language camp for teenagers who want to improve their German, get acquainted with culture of Germany, the sights of one of the most interesting regions of the country. The school is located on the territory of the historical landmark - Burg Schwaneck castle. The latter is 10 km from the center of Munich. The castle stands on the river bank. From its windows you can see a stunning view of the mirror-like water surface and a forest park.
Built in the 19th century, Burg Schwaneck today is renovated and modernized. It is equipped with modern equipment. Student residence in Burg Schwaneck corresponds to modern ideas about comfort of accommodation. At the same time the complex has preserved a unique architectural style, the charm of antiquity.
Short information. A two-week vacation program of general German with a study of the main aspects of the language and an emphasis on communication.
About the course. The program of the course for teenagers includes the study of grammar, the practice of reading, writing, expanding vocabulary. Training takes place in an interactive form. During the lessons students are invited to participate in trainings, discussions. The program also provides for group work, self-training.
The academic load is 20 lessons per week.
Training is combined with language practice in an informal setting (on extra-curricular activities, excursions, interpersonal communication).
Students age: 14 - 17 years.
Start dates: June 21, 2015 - August 9, 2015.
Requirements for enrollment: the language level is from elementary.
The result of the training: improvement of German, confidence in conversation, development of the skill of understanding speech, experience of communication in the language environment.
Class size: maximum 12 people.
Lesson duration: 45 minutes.
Cost: from 1660 euros for 2 weeks, from 2450 euros for 3 weeks, additional week - 790 euros.
The price includes the program of study, teaching materials and use of non-core literature, meals, lodging, entertainment on campus, 2 excursions per week, testing (introductory and final), transfer at the set time (direct, reverse) from Munich Airport.
Students live on the GLS Munich Castle campus. Rooms in the residential wing of the castle are designed for 4-5 people. Facilities are located in the lobby. Three meals a day are offered in the camp. Full board is provided in the school cafeteria.
Extracurricular program is multifaceted, interesting. Two events are organized for students every day. Adolescents in the summer camp in Munich can, together with new friends from different countries, be engaged in rafting, swimming, volleyball, playing mini golf, and participating in rallies.
Also, an out-of-class program provides 2 excursions per week. One of them is for the whole day. During excursions, students get acquainted with sights of Munich and the surrounding area.
Before lunch students attend German lessons. In the evening, students there is entertainment on campus.
In Burg Schwaneck, where the school is open, there are modern educational rooms, a library, a computer class, an Internet cafe, a spacious hall and a lounge zone. Also in the castle there are the student bedrooms. For entertainment there are bowling halls, billiards. In the park surrounding the school, there are playgrounds, tables for playing tennis, a cafe.
