Embassy Summer New-York Long Island University is open to teens 12 to 17 years old. Individual and group bookings of courses are possible at the school.
C. W. Post, is a campus with excellent modern facilities, is the best place to study English on summer vacation. It attracts students with location (a step away from the beach), landscape (300 acres of green areas), sports infrastructure (Olympic swimming pool).
Embassy Summer offers children and teenagers from different countries an accelerated rate of English language training and a significant increase in the level of oral possession. The language environment and lessons in small groups contribute to the high effectiveness of studies.
The school does not limit the level of incoming students and recruits students from the zero level of knowledge to the professional level. Introductory testing will determine the child in the required class: from Beginner to Advanced level.
The director of the training programs is responsible for the administration and management responsibilities. Teachers of Embassy Summer have received special training for teaching foreign students. The peculiarity is that English children learn as a foreign language. Special techniques and specific exercises are used for this.
The auditor load on the courses is not very high - up to 15 hours per week. In the classroom, students are auditioned and perform exercises that require conversational skills. There are no more than 4 lessons per day. Individual approach is possible thanks to small classes - up to 15 children. Among themselves, the participants of the courses are forced to communicate in English, since the school provides for the formation of international groups.
The high level of equipping the school with modern technology and the use of computers makes it easier to memorize new vocabulary and make the training more intensive.
Arrivals usually start on Sunday. During the day the students get acquainted with the rules of residence, learn more about the school and peers. On Monday, lessons begin with a test of knowledge. Testing helps to clarify the scope of the child's knowledge and send it to a suitable group. It is necessary to check the stock of words and writing skills, interview with a mentor.
Classes in the club of connoisseurs of culture not only expand the horizons of children, but also provide an additional opportunity to talk. Lectures in the club concern a wide range of topics: from famous places to extraordinary figures. During the reports, club members record, which they use as arguments in the debate. Additional topics are related to future excursions. "Historical research" of local sights cause heated discussions and lively disputes.
The non-trivial format of events allows children to feel more confident and receive basic conversational skills in a friendly circle.
Completion of schooling allows you to qualify for an exam in the European standards CEFR . This is a traditional English test developed at Trinity College. Estimates for the 12-point system are in accordance with categories A to C adopted in the European Union. Testing is conducted verbally with each student separately and does not depend on the level of knowledge. The CEFR final grade can be awarded to children from the simplest level to the advanced level.
Verification of knowledge at the completion of training is voluntary. Children who plan to undergo final tests should note this when booking a place of study.
