The Hun School of Princeton Summer School will help to significantly improve academic skills in a short time: it is opened to both American students and foreign students from all over the world. SUMMER ACADEMIC COURSE FOR CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

  • 11-17 years old
  • Dates: June 26 - July 28.

The program includes several options that the student can choose: the full course of receiving academic credits, 1-2 courses of general academic development, or an intensive program of written English (+ Creative Writing).

  • The course on obtaining academic credits

Lasts for 6 weeks - this is a complete analogue of one educational course of the standard program. The main subjects are mathematics and science: they offer a full-time program of 120 academic hours and work together with qualified, experienced teachers. Students can also earn academic credits in the following disciplines:

  1. Geometry
  2. Geometry (advanced course)
  3. Algebra (advanced course, II)
  4. Chemistry
  5. Physics.

Classes are held on weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 8:00 to 12:20.

  • Academic subjects

The general course on studying academic subjects will help to fill the gaps in knowledge and strengthen existing skills in accordance with American educational system standards. Basically this program is offered to students who have already studied the subjects indicated in the program, but want to raise their level and deepen their knowledge. In the process of learning, students will learn to write course and research papers - this skill is indispensable in further studies.

Students will learn the skill of creative writing, perfect their writing skills (Creative Writing), learn to write detailed essays necessary for entering a college or university, and to improve the skill of critical and analytical reasoning.

SUMMER ENGLISH + CULTURE OF THE USA

The program is intended for those students who want not only to improve academic skills, but also to learn more about American traditions, culture, history and peculiarities of the national mentality. This course will be especially useful for those foreign students who want to enter American schools, colleges or universities.

The program provides academic learning of English on the ESL program (English as a second language). Weekly students spend at least 5 hours studying all the main components of English on weekdays and improve key skills:

  • Reading
  • Auditing (listening comprehension)
  • Written speech
  • Oral speech (spoken English)
  • Phonetics (correct pronunciation, accent correction)
  • Vocabulary (active expansion of vocabulary)
  • Grammar.

Reading the original texts will help to immerse students in American culture: the study of classical works by American authors will help not only to learn English quickly, but also to better understand the characteristics of the national character, mentality, habits. Students will even try to write short stories and essays - the best exercise for developing a valuable skill Creative Writing is not found.

For students with a sufficiently high initial level of preparation, a more intensive course is offered, aimed not only at actively improving the skills, but also preparing for the passing of the TOEFL international exam.

All the students of the summer school live on campus along with American peers: it helps to immerse more deeply into the linguistic and cultural atmosphere, in the future more quickly adapt to the new school, to gain valuable experience of life on the traditional campus. Extra-curricular leisure is organized for students daily - the main events are held from 15:00 to 17:00.

A campus of more than 45 acres is just a couple of minutes drive from the center of lively Princeton, New Jersey, and you can reach New York or Philadelphia in less than an hour.
