Charterhouse School Nike Summer is a hockey camp for boys and girls from 11 to 17 years old, located in the British county of Surrey. The organizer of the training program is the sports corporation Nike .
The sports camp is based on the territory of the private school Charterhouse School . This is one of the oldest and most respected English schools - its history goes back about 400 years. The camp’s training program is designed and supervised by former British Olympic hockey player Matt Daily. Sometimes for the children, hockey training matches are held with local British teams and young professional players + at the end of each shift, the coach gives an individual assessment of the participants of the shift with the provision of recommendations on the technique of the game the student takes with him.
In the summer camp of the Charterhouse School Nike Summer professional coaches work with the guys, many of whom were once part of the international team of the country. Each week of student exchanges waiting for 29 hours of hockey training, master classes or matches.
In addition to morning and afternoon trainings, twice a week, educational seminars are held for students on important topics: ball tactics, sports nutrition, and more.
In their free time during the day, students of the summer hockey camp attend excursions or rest on campus, and in the evening take part in recreational activities.
This course is suitable for students who want to combine hockey training with learning English. The shift curriculum will include 16.5 hours of training and matches per week and 12.5 academic hours of English classes.
For distribution into language groups on the day of arrival, students are tested - on average, 10-12 students are received per class. Learning English is carried out according to the CLIL methodology used in the best schools in the world, with the formation of an individual development plan for each student. In the classroom, students practice communication skills, reading, writing, learn to write press releases, conduct interviews with sports players, and work with thematic media.
In their free time, children and students go on excursions or relax on the school campus.
The accommodation of young athletes is organized in a residence on the campus of the Charterhouse School: here they offer single or shared rooms. The hostels have all the necessary amenities: a bathroom, laundry room, lounges, wireless Internet, furniture in the rooms.
The participants of the summer sports camp in the school canteen are eating according to the full-boarding format: three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) + snack. Students are offered a balanced and healthy menu.
