The program of the international baccalaureate is designed for 2 years and for students of 16-18 years (grades 11-12). The total number of subjects studied at this stage is 11: among them, students choose 6 priority disciplines, relying on their own interests and inclinations, as well as on the requirements of the future profession. Teachers recommend observing the academic balance and choosing a variety of specialties and directions: it is recommended that the curriculum include foreign languages (minimum 2), mathematics and computer literacy, social (human) and natural sciences. Of the selected subjects, 3 is being studied at the standard level, and 3 is being studied on an advanced level.

For pupils who choose accommodation on a full board basis, there is a spacious and comfortable residence Büsingen on the banks of the River Rhine in a quiet village. Boys and girls live separately: for students there are cozy rooms for 1-3 people with bathrooms (private bedrooms are usually occupied by high school students), and public places include living rooms for rest and small functional kitchens. All pupils are constantly under the supervision of qualified and experienced educators, who, nevertheless, bring up independence and self-sufficiency in children: for example, on weekends they are allowed to cook on their own or are sent to the city for shopping.

Applicants of the International School of Schaffhausen must undergo a personal interview, as well as pass an examination in French and / or English, proving a sufficiently high level of language education.
