Baltic State Academy of Fishing Fleet, BSAF

The Academy was founded on April 30, 1966 and educates crew members of sea vessels.

The educational process is based on the following faculties:

• Navigation,
• Radio engineering
• Ship-mechanical,
• Transport.

The Academy maintains partnerships with the following organizations:

• Institute of Maritime Transport and Trade,
• Institute of Pedagogy of the University of Gdańsk,
• Klaipėda University,
• Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences,
• Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Higher Technical School of Aachen (Germany),
• A. Mickiewicz University of Poznan (Poland),
• Pedagogical Institute of the University of Kalmar (Sweden),
• National University of Vietnam,
• Wildau Higher Technical School (Germany).

Nonresident full-time students are provided with two dormitories for 608 places. The cost of living is up to 1200 rubles per month.

For meals for students and staff, the educational organization has a canteen for 600 seats.

To involve students in social and scientific activities, BSAF organizes and participates in the following events:

• National Scientific and Technical Conference of Students and Cadets "Days of Science";

The Academy has modern equipment, specialized laboratories, educational complexes and computer equipment.

Students are given free access to the scientific and technical library of the BGARF.

For sports, the Academy has a section of physical education and sports.

At BSAF, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after which students are given a vacation (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

For admission to BSAF, you must provide:

• Application for admission;
• Identity document(s), citizenship;
• Document on education and (or) document on education and qualifications / document (documents) of a foreign state on education and (or) document on education and qualifications;
• A document confirming registration in the system of individual (personalized) accounting (if any);
• A document confirming disability or disability;
• A document confirming the passage of centralized testing (exam);
• Documents confirming individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account at admission.

The necessary package of documents is provided to the Academy:

• By mail;
• In person to the admissions office;
• Through EPGU.

The BSAF successfully operates the Center for Assistance in Employment.

Cadets of marine specialties undergo swimming practice on the world-famous historical ships "Sedov" and "Kruzenshtern". Many graduates of the academy make brilliant managerial careers: among them are captains and chiefs of services in the fleet, heads of coastal enterprises, entrepreneurs, politicians.

For admission to bachelor's and specialist's educational programs, an applicant must:

• Completed education is not lower than secondary general;
• Points received for the exam are not lower than:
  • Russian language — 40,
  • Mathematics — 33,
  • Physics — 36,
  • Informatics and ICT — 40.

As material support for students, BSAF allocates the following types of scholarships for students:

• state academic;
• increased state academic;
• state social;
• state graduate students;
• scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation;
• scholarship of the Government of the Russian Federation;
• nominal scholarships;
• scholarships for students appointed by legal entities or individuals, including those who sent them to study.

In addition, the Academy provides financial assistance to students in need.
