Allameh Tabatabai University (ATU) is the largest humanitarian university in Asia, a leading university in achieving growth, development, knowledge in the humanities and social sciences thanks to the valuable abilities, competencies of its teachers and researchers.
The ATU,named after the modern Iranian philosopher Allame Mohammad Hossein Tabatabai, was officially founded in 1984 by merging two higher education complexes: the School of Accounting, Petroleum Financial Sciences, and the Tehran School of Commerce. Currently, ATU is the country's only university specialized in the humanities and social sciences. The teaching staff includes 530 full-time specialists.
