The academic year at Vilamoura International School is divided into 3 standard trimesters: autumn, spring, and summer. 

Admission to Vilamoura International School takes place in several stages:

1. First, a request form is filled out — it is needed to start the admission process or to sign up for a campus tour.
2. After submitting the request, a letter arrives with additional information and a personal list of admission steps. Then the main application form is filled out. For admission to primary school, the latest school report card is uploaded via the OpenApply platform.
3. Next, you can schedule a meeting with an admissions representative via OpenApply — online or in person; if necessary, administrators and the school psychologist join the meeting. During the visit, the child's needs and possible academic programs are usually discussed, and a personal campus tour is conducted.
4. Depending on age and year level, an assessment may be required:
   • for younger children — informal observation during a visit or trial lesson,
   • for Year 5 and above (national program), Year 6 and above (international program) — written tasks or an interview,
   • for the international program from Year 3 and above — the online GL Cognitive Ability Test 4.
5. After reviewing the application, the admissions committee notifies the applicant of the result. There are two possible outcomes:
   • confirmed enrollment,
   • a conditional offer (for example, with an additional language course for adaptation).
6. If the offer is accepted, the process is completed via the admissions committee's platform: the registration fee is paid, the contract is signed, and the required forms are filled out. After this, the enrollment is considered officially complete.
