University of West Georgia (UWG)

The University of West Georgia (abbreviated UWG) is an educational institution of the state type in America, the history of which begins in 1906. Currently, the main building of the university is located in the small town of Carrollton.

It is a university that admits about 14,000 students annually. The teaching staff of the university is about 1000 teachers of the highest category and professors. During their studies, students can apply to participate in faculty and student exchange programs between universities around the world.

Education is available in two formats: in-person and online, allowing students to combine studying with work. To earn a bachelor's degree in four years, the university recommends taking 15 credit hours per semester, with 12 or more hours considered a full load.

UWG offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs. Professional master's programs include MBA, MPAcc (Master of Accounting), MSN (Master of Science in Nursing), and Ed.D. (Doctor of Education), as well as academic programs M.A. and M.Ed. Nursing education is provided by the Tanner Health System School of Nursing (THSON).

• UWG holds special bilingual Descubre West tours for prospective students from the Hispanic and Latino community — with a session in both languages and a bilingual representative in attendance,
• Nursing training is offered not only in Carrollton, but also at a separate campus in the city of Newnan, Coweta County.

Modern student residences are available on campus.

First-year students living in the residence are required to choose at least a basic meal plan. Meals are provided by Campus Dining, offering several menu options to choose from.

Over the past few years, the university has consistently been in the top of the best in the world ranking of universities.

The students have access to a large university library. Students also can live in a modern student residence. The Institute is constantly evolving and willing to share its expertise, as evidenced by the university's membership in such reputable scientific associations as the University of Georgia system, sports associations and membership of the National Collegiate Sports Association, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

The academic year is divided into two main semesters: fall and spring; there is also a summer trimester, during which not all students study.

The admission of each student is conducted by a special admission committee. UWG University divides each academic year into two semesters. Education is paid, but there is an opportunity to return part of the costs by receiving a scholarship for good academic success. The higher educational institution provides students with the choice: to study full-time or remotely.

The university provides students with scholarships for academic merit, and financial aid is awarded based on eligibility criteria through the Office of Financial Aid.
