Mercer University is a non-profit private educational institution of higher education that has been active in scientific and academic activities since the beginning of 183 years in America. Now Mercer University has its own small campus.

Macon has been home to the university since 1871, when the institution relocated here from its original campus in Penfield, Georgia. The university's law school was founded in 1873.
